WWE: Major Update on the Airing of Mick Foley's Hall of Fame Speech

It had previously been reported through the media that WWE was not going to air Mick Foley's Hall of Fame speech. This seemed to be supported by the fact that a WWE-produced advertisement only featured Trish Stratus, Bruno Sammartino and Donald Trump.

Well, it would now seem that WWE has had a change of heart. Why the change of heart? Well if you were to ask Foley, he might say that Santa Claus granted him an early Christmas wish.

Obviously this isn't an early Christmas miracle. But it sure would have been a shame if WWE wouldn't have included his speech during the televised event.

Foley is an icon in the world of professional wrestling.

His incarnations of Mankind, Dude Love and Cactus Jack are legendary. Foley is a three-time WWE Champion and an eight-time WWE Tag Team Champion. He is also the first-ever WWE Hardcore Champion.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated awarded him Match of the Year honors in 1998 and 1999. In 1998, he received the honor for his work with Undertaker in Hell in a Cell. It was in this match that we all saw Undertaker toss Foley off of the top of the cell. Later on in the match, Undertaker would then send Foley crashing through the roof of the cell to the ring below.

This moment was one of the highlights of the Attitude Era and produced one of Jim Ross' most memorable lines.

In 1999, Foley received the award for his "I Quit" Match with The Rock. It was in this match that we saw Foley take big bump after big bump. The climax of this match came when Foley was handcuffed and The Rock relentlessly took a chair to him.

Foley's knack for putting his body through pure hell helped elevate him to the top of the wrestling world. His use of barbed wire, steel chairs and thumb tacks has produced moments that make you cringe. However, fans still find themselves watching those highlights over and over again.

Foley has had memorable feuds with Steve Austin, The Rock, Undertaker and Edge, just to name a few. He has wrestled and spilled his blood all over the world.

He has also brought laughter and entertainment to the WWE Universe outside of the ring. Foley's work with The Rock and Vince McMahon produced some of the funniest moments ever on WWE TV. Foley has also shared memorable comedic moments with Austin, Kurt Angle, Edge and Christian.

Foley may not look like your prototypical WWE Superstar, but he is the total package. His total body of work should have gotten him into the WWE Hall of Fame long before this year.

Whether or not his speech should be televised never should have been a question. You can bet your bottom dollar that there are going to be some cheap pops in the Garden Saturday night.
