News:
There have been suggestions made internally to replace Jim Ross with Michael Cole as the lead voice on WWE RAW. Cole would continue to also do Smackdown. Ross signed a one year contract last fall, which would prevent him from leaving the company until at least this coming fall. Many believe Cole calling the Royal Rumble match this year was a telling sign about the future of WWE announcing.

Jerry "The King" Lawler was not overly excited about being inducted into the WWE hall of fame. Apparently "The King" feels that the hall of fame implies that he is old and retired, which isn't the impression Lawler wants to convey. Believe it or not, Lawler had baseball tickets, and would have preferred to attend the ballgame rather than being inducted. Lawler was also upset when asked whom he would like to induct him into the hall of fame. Lawler picked legendary announcer Lance Russell, but he was told no one would know who Russell is.

WWE has announced that Mick Foley will be appearing on the first Raw and Smackdown / ECW tapings following Wrestlemania on April 2nd and 3rd in Dayton, OH and Fort Wayne, IN respectively.

Speaking of Foley, he was in the front row at the Nets-Wizards NBA game last Tuesday night. He was never mentioned but his face was on camera many times.

Maxim put Roddy Piper's movie "They Live" at No. 15 is the top 20 greatest awful movies of all-time.

Rocky Maivia vs. The Sultan (w/ Bob Backlund & The Iron Sheik) (Wrestlemania XIII)

The Cleveland Indians are doing a promotion giving away a bobblehead doll of Travis Hafner holding a WWE championship belt. Fans who attend the September 15th game against the Kansas City Royals will receive a Travis Hafner bobblehead doll with him holding the WWE title. Hafner, a former Tulsa Driller, is a long time wrestling fan and a personal friend of Jerry Lawler, who is a big Cleveland Indians fan. To see a picture of the bobblehead, go to http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/schedule/promotions_popup.jsp?c_id=cle&puid=2007_09_15_kcamlb_clemlb_1

It was officially announced last week by Jakks Pacific Vice President of Marketing Jeremy Padawer that Ken Patera, Jack Brisco, Jerry Brisco, and Pat Patterson has been signed for WWE Classic Superstars figures to be created.

TNA will release "Best of Tag Teams Volume 1" on DVD on March 13th and will feature the following matches:
America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Strom) vs. A. J. Styles & Christopher Daniels (TNA iMPACT! 5/4/06)
America's Most Wanted vs. Styles & Daniels (Sacrifice 2006)
The Naturals (Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens) vs. America's Most Wanted (TNA iMPACT! 3/25/06)
The Naturals vs. America's Most Wanted (TNA iMPACT! 8/3/06)
Chase Stevens vs. Kazarian vs. Chris Harris vs. Kip James to determine top contenders for NWA Tag Team Titles (TNA iMPACT!8/17/06)
The Latin American Xchange (Homicide & Hernandez, w/ Konnan) vs. Styles & Daniels (TNA iMPACT! 8/24/06)
The Latin American Xchange vs. Styles & Daniels (Six Sides of Steel; Bound For Glory 2006)

A. J. Styles will be doing the Spike TV/TNA iMPACT! Monthly Conference Call on 3/6.

The autopsy results have come in on Bam Bam Bigelow. His death was due to multiple drugs in his system, cocaine and benzodiazetine (an anti-anxiety drug) at lethal levels. His was also suffering from heart disease.

The Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow Memorial Biker Run will be held March 18th. The run begins at Abigor Choppers in Hudson, FL. It will be a police escorted run with Scott's brother Todd leading the run. Proceeds will go to Diabetes Research.

At the Virginia Military vs. Winthrop College basketball game Saturday on ESPN, they showed a Junkyard Dog action figure on the screen and explained whatever Winthrop player is named "Player of the Game" gets the action figure until the next game. The announcers talked about JYD being an old wrestler named Sylvester Ritter who beat Randy Savage to win the Wrestling Classic PPV.

Saturday was a bad night for Jake Roberts. Jake's false teeth fell out during his match with Casey Thompson. After the show Jake told fans to brush their teeth so they don't lose them later in life. When the teeth fell out, the ref kicked them into a corner behind Thompson's chain to obscure them.

Bob Matthews' column in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle which talks about who was better between Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth, has a note about a pro wrestling show in the city 50 years ago this week where Verne Gagne battled Hans Schmidt to a draw with Jersey Joe Walcott (a famous boxing world heavyweight champion) as referee, and mentioned Dick the Bruiser beat former Madison High wrestler Tony Silipini (who might have gone on to be Tony Marino).

The Josh Kornbluth show was on the KQED Monday night. Irv Muchnick was a guest plugging his new book "Wrestling Babylon," which is a collection of stories he wrote mostly during the 80s and 90s on pro wrestling, including a tremendous story on the Von Erichs. He did a great job coming across as an intellectual who understands pro wrestling, despite being handicapped by a host who was clearly not interested in wrestling, but delving into it. He talked a lot about the night John F. Kennedy passed away and how Sam Muchnick was lauded locally in St. Louis for going on with the show, and paying tribute that night to the fallen president with a show headlined by Lou Thesz vs. Fritz Von Erich. Lots of talk about Vince McMahon, the deaths of wrestlers and the rise of MMA. Daniel Puder was on with the host teaching him to run the rope and they did a 15 second mock pro wrestling match that was no worse than the Divas Battle Royal on OVW last week.

Adrian Street has a website (www.bizarrebazzar.com) where he and Miss Linda sell wrestle wear such as tights and masks and such. But they are now selling wrestling DVDs. Each DVD is $15 and appears that the footage may be coming from Mid-South/UWF, World Class Championship Wrestling, among other feds because not only do the DVDs feature Street and Miss Linda, but they also feature many of the stars that Oklafan features in the Bios section. Included in one of the DVDs is a Mid-South Television Title Match featuring Terry Taylor defending against Street.

NWA Universal announced last week that "NWA Intense TV" returns to television on April 6th. The show will feature all the stars of NWA Universal and broadcast team Mike Iles and CM Burnham of Oklafan.com. The show will be airing at 12 midnight on Cox Cable channel 70 in Tulsa and CableOne Channel 70 in Ponca City at 11:30am Saturdays, plus every Saturday a new download will be made available on www.thesuperstation.net.
