WWE Over the Limit 2012 Results: Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler Set Up to Fail

Kofi Kingston and R-Truth remained WWE Tag Team Champions last night at Over the Limit and, in doing so, proved Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler are not ready to be champions, and may never be ready.

The ever-arrogant Swagger and Ziggler seemed poised to grab the belts from Kingston and R-Truth, as they dictated the pace of the match. Despite their dominance, they were unable to emerge victorious when they faltered down the stretch.

The problem with Swagger and Ziggler is not related to athletic ability or potential, it arises when the two become more concerned with showboating and pleasing the crowd rather than focusing on the task at hand, which is obviously to win the match.

The two showed fantastic?albeit dirty?teamwork with Vickie Guerrero at ringside. About halfway through the match, Swagger distracted the referee while R-Truth lay on the ropes, enabling Ziggler to kick R-Truth in the face. They work magnificently with each other, tagging out at the perfect time, while maximizing the time their isolated opponent is in the ring.

It's times like those when you think that maybe they could one day obtain a WWE Tag Team Championship belts. Then, there are other times where serious doubt arises in their chances to become champions.

This is the WWE and the stars have to cater to the fans of course, but not when it's detrimental to the likelihood of winning the match. Such an occasion arose a couple of times in last night's match.

One of which resulted in R-Truth finally being able to tag Kofi Kingston in.

Ziggler was choking R-Truth from behind, then flattened him out and started to stand on his own head. This lackadaisical attitude ultimately ended in the demise of Swagger and Ziggler.

Had Kingston been kept out of the ring, he would not have been able to begin his meticulous destruction of his opponents. The second he got tagged in, it was easy to tell the match was all but over.

While Swagger and Ziggler unequivocally have the physical gifts to become WWE Tag Team Champions, they don't have the consistent ability to work together. They're clearly able to work alone, as evident in their past championships, but when two massive egos like that meet, it's hard to make it work.

The two don't have what their competitors last night have?the heart to persevere through the adversity that comes with every tag team match. Once the tide turned last night and momentum went to Kingston and R-Truth, Swagger and Ziggler went down like a house of cards at the first sight of trouble.

Hopes were so high for the tandem of Swagger and Ziggler, but after their most recent loss, it appears as though they will have a near-impossible time winning a tag team title in the future.
