WWE News: Former ECW Champion Appears at RAW from Philadelphia

WWE News: Former ECW Champion Appears at RAW from Philadelphia

Posted: Mar 20th 2012 By: mikeiles

Former ECW champion "The Franchise" Shane Douglas was at the live RAW taping tonight from Philadelphia. A video was posted on YouTube by a WWE fan that shows Douglas wearing a mask.

Douglas removed the mask during the Big Show-Kane match and fans started an ECW chant.

Security stepped in and escorted Douglas out of the building.

Douglas has not been seen in the WWE since his stint with the company in 1995, when he was "Dean Douglas," a college-educated character that carried around a chalkboard and gave critiques on wrestlers' performances in the ring.

He is best known for his runs in ECW, where he had several ECW world championship runs. He worked in WCW on two separate occasions, and his second run in WCW was a controversial one.

On his second return with the company in 1999, he cut a promo and vowed that he would cut the "cancer" out of WCW.

The cancer he was referring to was Ric Flair, who Douglas had a legitimate beef with stemming back to his first run with the company in the early 1990s.

Douglas is currently involved with "Extreme Reunion," a show that's being held on April 28 and involves former ECW alumni such as Sabu, Jerry Lynn, Raven and others.

Judging from the video, it would appear that Douglas was trying to create some buzz for Extreme Reunion.
