Dusty's Blog: April 22, 2010

Steve Stack passed away yesterday. For those under 30, a brief intro. Steve was the voice of Amarillo wrestling for some of us growing up. And Steve was the lead announcer for SW wrestling during a long part of their existance. In fact, he called a ?few? of my mat masterpieces. I?d like to have some nice personal tidbits to say about Steve. We weren?t friends. Far from it. BUT, Steve was the kind of professional that could save a TV event. And I?m fairly certain he bailed me out a time or two.
TNA
Started by a man that patterned himself and his office after Jerry Lawler, circa 1978-82.
Bought into by a major company with deep pockets, and run by a woman that obviously knows nothing about the concept of recent history?..
Hires Vince Russo..a man that has CONTEMPT for wrestling and wrestling fans. And enjoys rubbing that contempt in everyone?s face. By the way, how is the new porno company going, our born again Christain friend? And yeah, I can show you where the company exists.
Hire Eric Bischoff?made money for a year or so because of Ted Turners money. And couldn?t sell tickets to flies with shit as the main event. This is the man to turn it all around?
Russo is going on hiatus?burnout? Or the porn company needs attention? SOOO..rumor is Paul Heyman is the savior? A man that drew 1400 in a city of 3 million. A man that got a few years out of 6 good ideas, a man that semi-successfully ran a company off a fan base that still hasn?t left their mothers basement. All the while, making money as an employee of Vince McMahon, running a company owned by Vince McMahon. Bargaining and selling talent the big 2 weren?t sure of. All the while, making Paul E Dangerously money while serving his talent more koolaid and more hot checks.
When TNA started, I had hopes for the business as a whole. When Jerry Jarrett left, I started with the doubts. Now, ?.the final countdown has begun.
