NEWS
On Thursday, services for former NWA World Champion Jack Brisco were held in Tampa, FL., as friends and family said their final goodbyes. Several current and former wrestlers were in attendance including Edge, Michael Hayes, Haku, Brian Blair, Lanny Poffo, Dusty Rhodes, Pat Patterson, Dory Funk, Jr., Terry Funk and others. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross did the eulogy, something that he described on his blog as "one of the greatest honors of my career."

Bay News 9 in Tampa, FL has some video posted from Jack Brisco's funeral. The video shows some of the people that attended the funeral such as Terry Funk, Pat Patterson, and Edge. They also showed part of the eulogy delivered by Jim Ross and interviewed Mike Graham and Dusty Rhodes. To view the video, click here.

The main talking point following Brisco's funeral service on Thursday was the absence of Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. As noted, Brisco broke Hogan into the business after discovering him playing in a rock band in the 1970s. People at the service couldn't believe Hogan would not show up. Another talking point was Mike Graham and the attire he was wearing.

Ringside Rap, hosted by Rich Tate, Les Thatcher, and Mike Sempervive, featured a tribute to Jack Brisco, which included appearances by Harley Race, Danny Hodge, Dory Funk, Jr., Buddy Colt, Jim Ross, James J. Dillon, Steve Keirn, Jody Hamilton, and Mr. Wrestling II. The program is a presentation of Georgia Wrestling History?s GWH Radio Network. To listen to the tribute, click here.

Jim Ross has a meeting in the coming weeks with WWE officials to discuss his future. As previously reported, TNA has courted the announcing legend. Both Dixie Carter and Eric Bischoff wanted good Ol' JR to debut at the live "TNA iMPACT!" show on January 4th, but of course, Ross had agreed to a short-term contract with WWE. He is said to have many options on the table.

Upcoming "WWE Monday Night RAW" guest hosts Cheech and Chong were interviewed on Arizona's KQRS-FM radio station. When asked about WWE they didn't appear to know anything about the company other than their agent booked them after WWE requested them. The comedy duo will be the guest hosts when "RAW" is telecast live from Oklahoma City on March 1st.

Sgt. Slaughter has his first ever website in the works.

Someone did some research and found that Triple H has only lost clean to 13 different guys since 2001. The list doesn't include tag team matches or three-ways where he didn't physically lose, but does include ones where he did, as well as Survivor Series, Elimination Chamber and other matches where he took a clean pin or submission: Five losses to Randy Orton and John Cena, three to Batista, two to The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, and Bill Goldberg, and once to Kane, Edge, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Jeff Hardy.

WWE made it official last Monday night in Japan that Antonio Inoki will become the first-ever Japanese entrant into the WWE Hall of Fame, and will be inducted by Stan Hansen.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Ric Flair is exploring the possibility of opening a gym and wrestling school in Charlotte, NC. Flair had previously owned Gold?s Gyms years ago, and when he sold them, he had a non-compete which ran out at the end of this past year.

There is a story on Shark Boy appearing at a TNA show on Saturday in Massena, OH at the St. Lawrence Center Arena. He said his favorite wrestlers growing up were Randy Savage, Brian Pillman, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan, but when he started wrestling, his favorites became Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and Steve Austin. You can see the entire story by clicking here.

A Legends show with Jerry Lawler, Dutch Mantell, and Bill Dundee drew over 1,000 paid Friday night in Ripley, MS about 75 miles south of Memphis--a town that has a population of 6,000. The show was promoted by Rodney Grimes who is regarded as one of the best independent promoters in the south. Fans came from as far away as Alabama and Arkansas.

Roddy Piper's DUI charge from last summer in Los Angeles was recently expunged.

Roddy Piper was a guest on Adam Carolla's podcast on Tuesday. There are two ways to listen to it, either with or without a slide show. Both options are on Carolla's podcast website and can be accessed by clicking here.

The Ottawa Sun has a story on Monday's Raw host Jerry Springer. He talks about watching wrestling with Antonino Rocca and Haystacks Calhoun as a kid: "It's all a circus and it's all entertainment. If you're prepared to take it in the spirit in which it's given, then you can really enjoy it and have a great time. If you're going to sit back and just be in judgment of all this, then you're not going to have a good time. The fact is, particularly young people enjoy it, love it [and] they don't grow up to be dysfunctional because they see it. A whole nation has watched wrestling for the last 50 years on television. One thing that is very clear when you watch professional wrestlers is what phenomenal athletes they are." You can view the story by clicking here.
