JR's Blog: Saturday Update...NFL Picks...Lesnar...Rock...Wrestling Managers...Order Today w/ FREE SHIPPING

Posted: Jan 17th 2010 By: CMBurnham

Great Saturday to all and thanks for stopping by and checking out our site. Our on line business has been steady and growing as many folks are becoming repeat customers multiple times. If you haven't tried our products, we invite you to do so.

We're burning daylight...

NFL Playoff Picks...I do not encourage any one to wager their weekly pay checks on these "educated guesses" nor do I wish to start spirited debate with fans of teams that I do not pick to win but here's how I see this weekend's action in the National Football League...

Baltimore @ Indy...I love the Ravens defense and the way that they are coached. Baltimore has several of my friends from Oklahoma University on their team and they are my sentimental favorite in this game that will be a Slobber Knocker. However...I can't pick against the Colts and Peyton Manning at home. If the Ravens QB Flacco can complete some passes this week, the defense can corral the less than mobile Manning, and the crowd can be taken out of the game any thing can happen. but I don't know those things so I'm picking the Colts at home to win by a TD or less.

Arizona @ New Orleans...does one automatically take the "over" in this game? I'm not so sure. I do like the Saints at home especially after losing their edge late in the regular season and after the Cardinals left a bunch on the field last week against the Packers. The Saints defense has essentially been forgotten which I think is a mistake. Keep an eye on my pal and Saints' tight end Jeremy Shockey who's been out with a bad toe but returns this weekend. Saints by 7 points or more.

Jets @ Chargers...I hate to go against my friends like the Fink, Michael Cole, Taz and many others but I think San Diego is red hot, they are playing at home, NY has to make a coast to coast flight, and Sanchez is a rookie who's bound to implode, right? I would love to see the Jets win to make my friends happy but the Chargers are at home, have momentum, and are a well coached, well prepared team. SD Coach Norv Turner may not have Lane Kiffin good looks but never put youth and appearance ahead of experience and talent. SD closer than the experts think. I love the Jets swagger.

Dallas @ Minnesota...the Battle of I-35 and another game where I want my pick to lose and the home team to win. I think Dallas is as good as any team in the NFL today based on how they have played recently. The Cowboys defense is government mule tough and really well coached. For the Vikes to win they HAVE to be able to successfully run the football with my man and former Sooner Adrian Peterson. QB Brett Favre can't scramble all day and survive must less win the game for his team. Minnesota's offensive line can't be dominated by Dallas and have any chance to win. It's the Cowboys D-line vs. the Vikings O-Line that I see at the key to this much anticipated game. I'm still not sold on Tony Romo but I might be after this weekend that is unless DE Jared Allen can unhinge #9. The Vikes have AD, OT Phil Loadholt, center Jon Cooper, all guys that I know from OU on their team, so I am pulling big time for Minnesota but unless Dallas cools off and makes some self inflicted mistakes I think the Cowboys win a close one. i hope that I am wrong on this one as I have become a Vikings fan as 13 of their games have been televised locally in the OKC market.

Speaking of Minnesota, how's that for a segue, Brock Lesnar is going to apparently have a press conference to discuss his career next week with UFC honcho Dana White. I expect Lesnar to talk about his next fight and not retirement. I have experienced diverticulitis, had the surgery, etc and know what this ailment can do to one's body but I also lost 13 inches of my large intestines which I think that Brock has been able to avoid. Nonetheless I fully expect Lesnar to be able to fight again but the biggest mistake that can be made is to rush this beast back to the Octagon. White and company are way too smart to do that plus the athlete's long term physical well being has to be the top priority in this entire matter. My mere assumption is that it will be iffy to see Lesnar back in the Octagon in 2010, I hope that I'm wrong on that one, but I do think that Lesnar's MMA career has not ended based on what I read and my personal experienced with a similar ailment.

Brock Lesnar is an amazingly gifted athlete with a massive motor and will be back pounding people in the UFC if there is any physical way for him to do so. Can Lesnar be as good as he once was if he returns after his stomach issues? Hell, yes.

Bobby Lashley fighting on the Strikeforce card on January 30 seems imperative for me if the promotion is truly going to build Lashley into a future star and perhaps even a potential opponent for Fedor. As I write this Lashley has no opponent for that huge night for Strikeforce which does Bobby no favors for the obvious, unknown elements that include match preparation regarding who Bobby is going to tangle with even though at this late date would could assume that Lashley's opponent won't be a major threat. Actually that was always the case, wasn't it? Getting Bobby Lashley positive exposure on the January 30 televised event is what's important and I stress the term "positive" exposure.

Every entity from the NFL to WWE to UFC to Hollywood have the challenge of building new stars and Lashley missing the upcoming, televised opportunity would slow his progress unnecessarily and inexcusably.

Will pro wrestling manager's ever return? I don't know but if they did they would be "new" to many viewers of wrestling TV shows. Updated persona's of this once essential role might play well in today's marketplace if the right individuals are cast and if they could be prepared in a through and extensive way. For some reason, I can see some really athletic students of the game adapting well in this role which is obviously less demanding from an athletic skill stand point that is being a wrestler. If any new managers debut they should spend hours watching, among others, guys like Bobby Heenan, Gary Hart, Jim Cornette, J.J. Dillon, Skandar Akbar, and Paul Heyman, just to name a few, to see how various individuals and personalities made it work successfully.

I'm not for going retro or totally old school here but the right person with the right talent in a role formerly known as a wrestling manager might just work.

I would also like to see a few 2 out of 3 fall matches on TV occasionally but not as a regular bill of fare. This match structure is the essence of episodic TV which weekly wrestling shows must be. The argument against such is that is it too over exposing of key talents plus it does resemble old school wrestling which isn't coveted in many circles.

No, I don't endorse wrestlers going back to wool tights or to where the good guys often times wore white while the villains often times wore black. As a matter of fact, too many talents wear black these days plus many of their self-designed logos are "too busy" to translate to TV. Even in HD on a big screen TV I can't make out what the stitchings on many tights represent.

We've update the latest Q&A's that include questions about the Kliq, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, and many, many more.

We got some super feedback from a loyal customer who raved about the Chipotle Ketchup. I can't stress enough that if you haven't tried a bottle of the Hot BBQ Sauce and the Chipotle Ketchup that you are missing something special. What do you have to lose by trying one bottle of each? You'll thank me later, I promise.

Got to hit the gym before kickoff but I hope that your teams win on, arguably, one of the great football weekends of the year.

Before I go, just want to extend a shout out to Rock's Mom Ata who has successfully been diagnosed as cancer free which is the best news that I heard all week. She is a wonderful woman who my family respects and admires deeply and the news of her improved health situation is wonderful. Ata's health is a great way to end this particular piece of business.

Rock's new movie "The Tooth Fairy" is must see fare and is some of his best work and is a movie that the entire family can go see which is a smart thing on the film makers behalf and for Rock as it enhances his ever growing image and fan base.

Count your many blessings and come back and see us. The store is always open.

Boomer Sooner!
