NEWS
Kobra Kai participated in Tulsa's Polar Bear Plunge on January 1st. The event was a one mile run and then a jump into either a swimming pool or the Arkansas River. The event is sponsored each year by the Tulsa Area Triathletes and the Tulsa Area Trail & Ultra Runners. The event usually draws about 200-300 participants each year.

The memorial service for "Dr. Death" Steve Williams will be held on Friday, January 8th at The Mile High Church in Lakewood, CO at 2:30pm Mountain Time.

Asylum Championship Wrestling announced last week that their January 9th show in Colorado Springs, CO will be a "Dr. Death" Steve Williams Tribute Show. Williams wrestled his last match on August 15th for ACW winning their Heavyweight Title from Franco D'Angelo.

[http://www.wwe.com]WWE.com along with News Oklahoma, the Washington Post, Miami Herald and several other media outlets who picked up the story by the Associated Press all covered the death of Steve Williams. Williams was very well known in Oklahoma as he played offensive guard for OU and was also an All-American heavyweight wrestler.

WWE was granted another extension until January 5th to respond to Jody Hamilton's lawsuit against them for breach of contract after severing ties with Deep South Wrestling as a developmental group in 2007.

Joe Hennig (son of Curt Hennig) and Brett DiBiase (son of Ted DiBiase) are working as a tag team in developmental called The Fortunate Sons.

Magnum T. A. was backstage visiting at the Smackdown show in Charlotte, NC on December 28th. He is the Godfather of Cody Rhodes, son of his long-time friend Dusty Rhodes.

On the live "TNA iMPACT!" on December 4th, not only did Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff make their first TNA appearance, but several wrestlers made their first TNA appearance or their first TNA appearance in quite some time including Ric Flair, Jeff Jarrett, Sean Waltman (AKA X-Pac), Scott Hall, Sean Morely (AKA Val Venis), Orlando Jordan, The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags), Jeff Hardy, and Shannon Moore. Longtime Hogan friend and radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge debuted as a TNA announcer, and Hogan's daughter Brooke Hogan was shown in the crowd. Brian Kendrick was backstage but did not appear on the show.

Sting recently agreed to a new contract with TNA.

Speaking of Sting, Sting was announced for the 2010 Mid Atlantic Legends wrestling reunion in Charlotte in August.

After The Oklahoma/Mexico Connection (Doberman & Pablo Chuco) was defeated by Clayton Brooks & Bullman Downs at the North American Wrestling Allegience event in Waxahachie, TX they each received 4 hits with a leather strap. Two of those hits came from "Killer" Tim Brooks, then one each from Clayton and Bullman. After receiving their hits, OMC attacked Clayton & Bullman, then attacked Tim as well. They then tied Tim in the ropes and gave him a chairshot to the gut. After Bullman made the save, Tim said that after his cancer surgery in February, he would start training and make his return to the ring to make an example out of OMC.

Bill Goldberg will become the first professional wrestler to be inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Dutch Mantell will be released as International Wrestling Association booker this week. IWA is a promotion in Puerto Rico, which rivals World Wrestling Council. Despite those rumors, IWA announced that Mantell is still with the company. They also mentioned that there are internal changes and that there is someone providing economical help to the company. Mantell is also working as the booker for Showtime All-Star Wrestling, based in Nashville, TN.

IWA also announced that current booker and former Bushwacker Luke Williams was hospitalized last weekend at the University of Puerto Rico Hospital in Carolina, Puerto Rico after suffering pneumonia. He is now better and been released from the hospital.

Oklafan would like to congratulate Kenny Campbell and his wife Corinne on the birth of their daughter Kayleigh Elizabeth. She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
