Big Van Vader Passes the Torch at Halloween Hangover as the Surprises Keep Coming
Posted: Nov 10th 2009 By: mikeiles
IZW?s 2nd Annual Halloween hangover brought unexpected moment after unexpected moment. The crowd in the Impact Arena had their breath taken away time and time again as long absent wrestlers returned, a new Co-Commissioner was named, and a wrestling legend made his presence felt. Not only was the world renowned Big Van Vader at Halloween Hangover, but he brought his son, Jesse White, with him. And the crowd was given a very special moment when Jesse made his professional wrestling debut.
Before the show started, Impact Inc and Bad Brad?s crew was shown backstage, nervously pacing as Johnny tried to get in touch with a mysterious person that they said they would need that night. As he finally got him on the phone, there was a knock on the door. Whomever they were waiting for had arrived. The show began as Impact Inc?s music hit, Johnny Z and Steve-O walking to the ring with their friends as of late, Bad Brad Michaels and his team of the Revolutionary Dane Griffin and the Wrecking Ball Shane Rawls. Johnny started to talk about how he and Rawls would be taking IZW Champion Aaron Neil out in the main event, but first he wanted to introduce someone. Making his return to IZW after a long absence, Mr. Saturday Night Michael Barry appeared. This was who Johnny was speaking to earlier, a 3-time IZW Champion. But Johnny was interrupted on the video screen by his brother Jeff. Jeff said that it was time for his announcement. He would be naming a new Co-Commissioner, someone to speak for the fans instead of someone in Johnny?s back pocket. Impact Inc did not like the sound of this, but they really didn?t like the sight of it when the new Co-Commissioner, none other than Bernie D, came to the ring. Impact Inc had to hold Johnny back as he lost all composure, repeatedly screaming, ?But I fired you! I fired you!? Bernie wasted no time, announcing that all of Impact Inc would be in the Monster?s Bash battle royal, and Bad Brad would be in it too.
The Monster?s Bash battle royal started with the first two men, Mr. Money Randy Price and Ky-ote Joe. 23 men fought in the match, coming out every two minutes. Another surprise return occurred as Dustin Heritage entered the match after being gone for months. Ky-ote made an impressive showing lasting over forty minutes to be one of the final four men. The final four were Ky-ote, Jermaine Johnson, Dustin Heritage and Big John O?Malley. The Hate Machine was able to throw each man over the top rope to win a future shot at the IZW Heavyweight title. When will he cash in his title shot?
The next match featured Ky-ote Joe taking on Dane Griffin. The two went after each other the week before and were able to have an actual match this week. Even though both had been in the battle royal, they both gave it their all. Ky-ote got the win with a sudden small package. Bad Brad and Dane were not happy about that and gave Joe a beatdown for winning the match.
The tag title match followed, featuring Nemesis challenging Arrogant Money. After winning the belts last week but having Steve-O erase the match from the record books, Rage Logan and Crisstopher Crow wanted to finally take the belts home. But after a lengthy battle, Randy Price used the belt as a weapon to earn the DQ. Cheated again, Nemesis were furious. New Co-Commissioner Bernie D came out to address Price?s actions. He said he couldn?t change what just happened, but he had noticed that Price hadn?t defended his Impact Division title in over 30 days and that he would defend it later that night against the #1 Contender.
Now pulling triple-duty, Price came out later for his match, obviously displeased. The #1 Contender turned out to be Eric Rose. Mr. Money didn?t let the match go very long before he again grabbed his belt and used it for a weapon to earn the DQ. Dustin Heritage came out to break it up. Bernie came out again and told Randy that he was killing him. But he wouldn?t let him off that easy. He would still defend the belt and it would be against Heritage. He added that this time, it would be a No DQ match. The two had it out with Heritage getting busted open early. Austin Tacious eventually came out to help Price but BLK-OUT came out to stop him. This allowed Heritage to hit Price with a superkick, earning him the win and the Impact Division Championship. Bernie came out again to say that he didn?t want to interrupt the celebration, but Arrogant money were looking at the new #1 contenders for their tag titles. After they all left, Dustin Heritage celebrated with his new title. All of a sudden, Michael Barry came out and blindsided Heritage with a steel chair. He gave him a Saturday Night Special onto the belt before actually taking the belt and leaving. What is Barry?s motivation in stealing Heritage?s newly won title?
The main event finally came in what was supposed to be a 2-on-1 Handicap match for the IZW Championship pitting IZW Champion Aaron Neil against both Johnny Z and Shane Rawls. But with the help of the new Co-Commissioner, Big Van Vader saw an opportunity for his son to make his wrestling debut. The match was made into a tag match, evening the two sides. Jesse White is a former OU football player and came into the match in fighting shape. Vader cheered his son on as he worked very aggressively. Bad Brad Michaels and his crew tried to get involved, but Vader put a stop to that, giving his trademark strikes to both Dane Griffin and Michaels. Jesse White was able to pick up the win, using the Vader Bomb on Johnny to the crowd?s approval. Neil retained his title and was left standing tall in the ring alongside Vader and his son. The Impact Arena was host to a significant moment as Jesse White made his triumphant debut. Surprises happened all night at Halloween Hangover?and there are always more to come with Impact Zone Wrestling.
