Jerry Lawler was interviewed about his candiadacy for Mayor of Memphis by David Asman of Fox Business. You can view the interview by clicking here.
Jerry Lawler's campaign is not happy with a local TV station's mayoral race poll which showed him with just 2 percent of the surveyed voters. The poll was conducted over a two-day period and was a sample of 400 likely voters. Lawler wrote on his campaign website: "I've been out working hard, campaigning, talking to the hard-working citizens of Memphis. I've talked to well over 400 people myself. And what I hear and what I see out there in the community is anything but what this new poll shows. How can a poll be accurate when only sampling 400 'likely' voters? How can 400 people represent the complete 700,000 citizens of our city? You can't predict and speak for 700,000 people by taking a sample of less than one-one-thousandth percent! That says to me, that News Channel 3 and the Commercial Appeal have decided to disenfranchise the other 690,000-plus citizens of our city. They have decided who they want to win and will force this notion and this misconception on its viewers and readers in an attempt to manipulate the voting in just four weeks. It's just more of the same tired, political games that have plagued our city."

Everyone else is in of note as well as former wrestlers John Bradshaw Layfield and Umaga.

There is a video on You Tube with Jeremy Borash interviewing A. J. Styles backstage after Styles had won the TNA World Title on September 20th. Also in the video, TNA president Dixie Carter presents Styles with the title belt.
TNA announced last week that they have released Jim Cornette and B. G. James. TNA will be releasing more talent that doesn't fit the current direction of the company. Cornette has never liked current head booker Vince Russo and his booking style, and has often spoke out against him. The former Road Dogg was close to Jeff Jarrett, and the days of you being safe because of that association have clearly passed. Cornette issued the following statement over on his Facebook page for "Cornette's Collectibles" regarding his release from TNA Wrestling: "Thanks everyone for your kind words but, we are REALLY OK about all of this. Gives us more time to make QUALITY products for Cornette's Collectibles and devote our time to wrestling we actually enjoy being apart of." Cornette joined TNA in 2006 and was giving a "Management Director" gimmick. His real role in the company, apart from being an on-screen character, was of a road agent. James made his TNA debut in 2002 and has been employed with the company ever since however he hasn't been used much on television this year. During his time there he held the NWA World Tag Team Titles twice with Konnan and Ron Killings.
The reason behind Jim Cornette has been explained. TNA had made a deal with Vince Russo's friend Ed Ferrara to return to the wrestling business. At this point, Ferrara's title is backstage producer and is not considered a member of the creative team, but obviously he has influence in the company. There is internal frustration over the decision to replace Cornette with Ferrara.
According to various reports, the new TNA creative team appears to be Vince Russo, former WCW and WWE writer Ed Ferrara, Jeremy Borash, and Matt Conway. Russo and Ferrara caused a stir in the business when they left WWE for WCW. The new creative team is a result of cleaning house with Dutch Mantel and Jeff Jarrett no longer in charge of the creative process.
According to recent reports, TNA is bringing in Pat Kenney (AKA Simon Diamond) and D' Lo Brown as agents to replace Jim Cornette and B. G. James

According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Ric Flair signed a three-year deal last Tuesday with the new Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff "Hulkamania" promotion that will debut with a tour in Australia this November. Other former WWE stars that are confirmed for the tour are Ken Anderson (AKA Mr. Kennedy), Sean Morley (AKA Val Venis), Eddie Fatu (AKA Umaga), Shannon Moore, Orlando Jordan, Rikishi, The Godfather, Dallas Page, The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags), Jimmy Hart, Brutus Beefcake, Lacey Von Erich, and David Heath (AKA Gangrel). Rob Van Dam is believed to be in negotiations as well as a couple of former WWE Divas. The official website for the Hulkamania Tour in Australia is Hulkamania.com.au. You can see a commercial that is only being run in Australia by clicking here.
Hulk Hogan was on "The Footy Show" in Australia Thursday for five minutes and announced Ric Flair, The Nasty Boys, Jimmy Hart and Brutus Beefcake as appearing on the tour. None of those names really came as a shock.

Former NWA wrestler Sam Houston (Michael Maurice Smith), 45, was jailed on Wednesday in Louisiana for a probation violation. A judge ordered him to finish a 10-year prison sentence from 2005 stemming from multiple DUI convictions. He was originally released less than a month after he was sentenced due to being deemed a non-violent offender in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. His probation officer recently ordered him to attend a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, but he left the 90-day program after just 30 days. In recent years Houston had been working for a construction company and also helped his father, Grizzly Smith, 77, at a cemetery near the French Quarter in New Orleans. Houston is the half-brother of Jake "The Snake" Roberts and his younger sister worked in the wrestling business as Rockin' Robin. He was also at one-time married to Nickla "Baby Doll" Roberts and they had two children together. He was best known during the mid-80s as feature performer for Jim Crockett Promotions.
