NEWS
The Oklahoma Athletic Commission has made a new rule that any fighter who fights on a non-sanctioned event will be suspended for 60 days. It's a very controversial ruling to say the least because it stops fighters from fighting on tribal land. However, when we placed a call to the Commission, we received further explanation. The Commission has jurisdiction over boxing and MMA events on tribal land, but they do not have jurisdiction over pro wrestling on tribal land. Therefore, the only events that are "non-sanctioned" that could get a pro wrestler suspended are those held on non-tribal land and without an Oklahoma Athletic Commissioner present.

Matt Riviera is selling the movie "Blood Forest" on DVD, which co-stars Riviera himself. It is available on his merchandise link on his website at MattRiviera.com.

On August 31st after "WWE RAW" went off the air, a six man tag team match featuring Legacy (Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Jr. & WWE RAW World Champion Randy Orton) vs. John Cena & D-Generation X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) took place which also had interference from Dusty Rhodes on behalf of the DX/Cena team. But the fun did not stop there. Following the match, in which Orton tapped out to Cena's STFU, Michaels got on the mic and told Cena that whenever he tries to save him it never ends good. Michaels said he was pissed that they didn't do the DX "stuff" before the match. "I've been beat up for 10 minutes and I'm running like this...what a phenomenal athlete I am," joked Michaels as he ran around the ring doing his usual antics. Triple H took over and played with the crowd and did the whole usual DX promo with Cena and Dusty Rhodes joining in for the pose. You can view a video of this by clicking here.

Gerald Brisco is on track with his recovery following a series of mini strokes in June. He subsequently underwent surgery to unblock an artery and repair a hole in his heart. It appears that he has regained most of his strength although he is still having some issues with his speech. One of his closest friends in WWE noted to that they expect him to return to work before the end of the year.

A November airing of the Food Network's "Dinner Impossible" will feature WWE talent. The show was shot in Los Angeles during "Summerslam" weekend, and includes Jim Ross, Stephanie McMahon, Gail Kim, and The Big Show.

Memphis-based CommercialAppeal.com had a poll where it asked viewers who impressed them the most at the Memphis mayoral debate on August 27th. All 9 candidates were listed and out of 1,283 votes, 43% said that Jerry Lawler had the most impact. Lawler threw his name in the hat for this year's Memphis mayoral race, his second attempt after he came in third in 1999. If he wins the election Lawler has to resign from his WWE duties to perform his job as Mayor of Memphis. His election website is at JerryLawler2009.com.

The Legends of Classic Wrestling Cruise hosted by Jerry Lawler has been postponed. The cruise was originally scheduled for October but with Jerry running for mayor he decided to postpone the trip. The itinerary was an awesome read, including: On deck tanning sessions with The King; shopping expeditions with his girlfriend; "the truth" about Andy Kauffman; and special guests Grandmaster Sexay and Hall of Famer Pat Patterson.

Ric Flair and his sons were in Las Vegas last weekend. ESPN 1100 had him on for a short interview. He talked highly of WWE and Vince McMahon saying while he misses the boys in the locker room he doesn't miss the travel schedule or the 12 hour days of taping television.

Ric Flair appeared on the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. As "Access Hollywood"'s Nancy O'Dell was talking, Flair came out. It was only 2 or 3 minutes and was asking people watching at home to donate to MDA. WWE donated four floor seats to "Survivor Series" and the tennis shoes John Cena wore when he won the WWE title for the first time.

The current plan is for A. J. Styles to capture the TNA World Heavyweight championship at the upcoming "No Surrender" pay-per-view. This would set up Styles vs. Sting in a Title vs. Career Match at October's "Bound for Glory" pay-per-view.

As part of TNA's Australian tour last week, Jeff Jarrett, Jeremy Borash, and Christy Hemme hosted American Idol-style auditions in Melbourne and Sydney, searching for talent to be valets, refs, and announcers. The winners will get to work the live events.

Jeff Jarrett was on Rove yesterday, an Australian TV talk show whose host, Rove McManus, is a huge wrestling fan. McManus showed a clip of him and Jarrett from eight years ago where Jarrett hit him with a guitar during a wrestling match in Australia and for payback, McManus slammed Jarrett with a chair during the show. It resulted into a funny skit with the two running backstage and hitting each other in a pre taped segment which was then cut to the "live" feed again. Hilarious stuff. Jarrett then presented the host with a replica of the TNA title. The video of Jarrett's appearance is on YouTube. You can view it by clicking [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NGxwFakOoE&feature]here.

Jeff Jarrett and Christy Hemme were guests on SEN radio's "All Night Appetite" in Australia. He said he has no issues with Kurt Angle, and put him over as arguably the best wrestler in the history of the business: "[Kurt] doesn't have a peer in this business for his ability once the bell rings. From bell to bell I think he may be the best this business has ever produced." He also listed Jerry Lawler, Tenryu, Shawn Michaels, and Jeff Hardy as some of the most gifted guys he has been in the ring with. On up-and-comers in TNA, he specifically mentioned Jay Lethal and Brutus Magnus. He told a funny story about Randy Savage calling Lethal up to give him his seal of approval, but thought it was one of the boys in the locker room playing a rib on him. On the current product, he said: "Wrestling is subjective. Quality of the program is in the eye of the beholder. One thing I don't ever want TNA to do is rest on its laurels or be complacent."

Jeff Jarrett has been out of TNA ever since the issue with Karen and Kurt Angle was made public over the radio a while back where someone who worked on the TNA lot in Universal phoned the Bubba The Love Sponge radio show and said that Jarrett is living with Karen Angle and her kids. While Jarrett is still romantically involved with Karen, the issue which sparked the whole controversy has been reportedly settled, opening the way for Jarrett to come back to TNA.

Jim Cornette was a guest on [http://www.feelthepain.net]FeelThePain.net. He noted he has a new book out next year highlighting his vast Memphis Wrestling photo collection. When asked about the Kurt Angle-Jeff Jarrett situation it was a firm no comment. He said he has no involvement in the writing process, although in his capacity of agent, he is assigned matches to produce, and also works in the production truck. On Paul Heyman ever coming in, he said: "I have always said that Paul is an evil genius. Everyone that knows us has always called us the bizarro twins because we're complete polar opposites. And if you put us and Vince Russo on the ends of a triangle we would self destruct the universe. The thing about Paul is, he knows what he's is doing. The question sometimes is why he is doing what he's doing. I'll leave it there."

The former Rikishi (Solofa Fatu) has been working out in Chile for the RLL group of late. He noted in a recent interview that he doesn't watch WWE or TNA anymore: "I don't watch it anymore... I think that pro wrestling has gotten away from what made pro wrestling and that is creating characters that fans like and good easy storylines. Easy to follow. Easy for the kids to understand, and also fun for the adults too."

The Decatur Book Festival, in a very literate, upscale, liberal neighborhood in Georgia, had Abdullah the Butcher wrestle author Michael Muhammad Knight, who has wrestled at indie shows. The match never got in the ring. Abdullah grabbed Knight and used a table, chair and fork and Knight bled heavier than Dusty Rhodes in the 70s. Very bizarre considering the occasion. A video of this can be see by clicking here.

Oklafan would like to congratulate Texas, Inc. (Tim Rockwell & Bernard Funk) who surpassed 6 months as MWA Tag Team Champions on September 3rd.
