NEWS
WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco underwent successful heart surgery in Tampa last Thursday. He went home on Friday and his recovery time is estimated at three months.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, names being considered for induction into the WWE Hall of Fame next year includes the likes of The Honky Tonk Man, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, and even the Ultimate Warrior, although one would still think Warrior would be considered a long shot.

Jerry Lawler has said that he is running for mayor of Memphis, and he realizes that if he wins the election, he won't have the time to continue as a WWE announcer.

Brian Lawler, son of Jerry "The King" Lawler, was jailed on Monday in Jackson, TN for failing to comply with court orders to go to rehab stemming from his June 26th arrest for public intoxication. Lawler had pled guilty and agreed to 30 days rehab at an in-patient treatment center instead of 30 days in jail.

Ric Flair was added to the upcoming NWA Legends fanfest in Charlotte completing a reunion of The Four Horsemen with Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and James J. Dillon. Flair had originally said he couldn't make the fanfest due a booking in Egypt. For more info go to NWAlegends.com.

Ric Flair drew over 1200 fans for a Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling show in Anderson, SC on Saturday. He signed autographs and cut a promo in the ring before the show which also featured Chris Hamrick, Bobby Eaton, Richie Steamboat (Ricky Steamboat's son) and Buff Bagwell. The next show is Rutherfordton, NC in September. More info at MidAtlanticWrestling.com.

TNA has a 3-disc DVD set on A. J. Styles is in the works. This would be similar to the deal with Jeff Jarrett including a feature length documentary.

On the Bubba the Love Sponge show on Wednesday, someone claiming to work backstage at TNA said Karen Angle has moved in with Jeff Jarrett along with her and Kurt's children. Bubba told the caller he didn't believe that story to be true and then called Kurt on his cell phone and left a message to call the show. Kurt never called the show and Bubba never talked about it again. On Thursday, Matt Morgan was scheduled to be a guest on the show to plug Sunday's "Victory Road" pay-per-view event. The producer said that both Morgan and someone from the TNA office called but he missed both calls. The producer called Morgan, who said he'd be ten minutes late. The producer then called the front office guy, who told him that Morgan had just taken ill and had to cancel. The producer said he talked to Morgan himself and Morgan was on the way in. However, Morgan never arrived. Then Bubba explained the whole situation on the air, blaming the cancellation on the rumor on the show the day before, was livid that after all he's done to promote them that they would cancel on him at the last minute. Bubba said he likes everyone at TNA and Dixie Carter (pretty much everyone likes Dixie Carter) but he's rethinking if he'll work with them in the future because of how everything went down.

There is an article about Abyss on the website of the United Kingdom based The Sun. Abyss, is in Europe doing promotional work for TNA this week. in the story, he talks about his dream of a match with Mick Foley. You can read the story by clicking here.

Following in footsteps of Jim Duggan, Rob Van Dam and others, Mick Foley will be attempting a stand-up comedy routine at the Hollywood Improv in California on August 22nd.

Kevin Eck of The Baltimore Sun conducted a video interview with Jim Cornette. You can it by clicking here.

WrestlersRescue.com now has an autographed ring robe from Christopher Daniels up for auction on their website to continue with their campaign to raise funds for pro wrestler and cancer survivor Steve Williams to obtain a "hands free" voice device.

The Washington Post has a story on New York Congressman Peter King who made a Youtube video bashing the media for its coverage of Michael Jackson's death. Apparently he got a ton of heat for his comments and Boss Hog Calhoun, the 500lb grandson of legendary wrestler Haystacks Calhoun, has offered to became his bodyguard. You can read the entire story by clicking here.

During the second segment of Wednesday's episode of "TMZ", they have a brief interview with former WCW Champion Bill Goldberg that goes a little something like this:

TMZ: "You ever going to get back in the ring again?"

Goldberg: "Indies I would do in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't work for Vince McMahon if he was the last motherf----r on earth".

They then transition into a shot of Harvey Levin (the show's host) asking what Vince did to piss off big Bill. No real answer is given by the staff except to add "a lot of people seem pissed at Vince I wonder why that is?". For the rest of the segment they basically mock Goldberg for being a jew who wrestles by saying "don't they usually have names like Hulk or the Rock? Goldberg sounds like Feinstein....doesn't it seem like a weird name?" One of the other "reporters" on the show informs Harvey he doesn't wrestle with a yamika on or anything so it's not that weird and I bet you wouldn't say that to his face.

Texas based Independent Wrestling Entertainment announced this past Wednesday that Ryan Davidson had vacated their Heavyweight Title and would not be wrestling for them until further notice. IWE concluded the report by saying the departure was beyond the control of both Davidson and IWE.

Sad news to report on the death of the two-year-old daughter of former wrestler Little Kato, named Brooke (named after her grandfather, the famous ?70s star Lord Littlebrook), who underwent heart surgery and didn't survive.
