The Scoop

Posted: May 4th 2009 By: mikeiles

NEWS
Charlie Haas and Mike Knox are expected to debut on "WWE Smackdown" as The Hard Knox Connection very soon. They debuted as a team in matching outfits during WWE's European tour.

The plan for Jerry Lawler at the May 6th "Smackdown" tapings in Memphis is to referee a dark cage match with Jeff Hardy & Rey Mysterio vs. Edge & Chris Jericho.

Judging from the way everyone reacted, it didn't appear Jim Ross knew ahead of time about how they were going to claim Santina was in love with Jim Ross. Vince McMahon has an affinity for making fun of Jim Ross, although hasn't done so on television in a while.

ShopTNA.com will have new merchandise for A. J. Styles, The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin), Jay Lethal, and The Latin American Xchange (Homicide & Hernandez) very soon.

Mick Foley is working on his fourth autobiography, this will focus on his jump from WWE to TNA.

The TNA main event for "Sacrifice", a four-way Sacrifice match with Mick Foley putting up the TNA World Title, Kurt Angle putting up his spot as leader of the Mafia, and two others (most likely Jeff Jarrett and Sting) putting up something should be finalized at TV Tuesday.

Jim Cornette has been added to the upcoming NWA Legends fanfest in Charlotte. He will be doing a Q&A. More info at NWALegends.com.

From a recent Press Release: "Wrestler?s Rescue would like to say 'Thank You' to Jim Cornette for his donation of a signed copy of the newly released ?The Midnight Express & Jim Cornette 25th Anniversary Scrapbook-Special Edition?. This special edition is signed by Jim Cornette, Stan Lane, Dennis Condrey, and Bobby Eaton. There are only 250 of these signed, but you can win one in auction on May 1, 2009, starting at $30.00, at www.wrestlersrescue.org. Proceeds of this auction will go to the campaign for ?Dr. Death? Steve Williams? ?Hands-free? voice device. For more information about this campaign, other available collectibles, or Wrestler?s Rescue, please visit WrestlersRescue.org".

Chris Ketchmark of Sandstone, MN bought the autographed WWE title belt that Wrestlers Rescue was auctioning off to raise money for Steve Williams. He said he got it for $985.99. He said he set himself a limit of $1,000, but figured it would go for more than that and joked his wife now probably wants to kill him.

Ric Flair recently signed a deal to be a spokesperson for the lottery in the Carolinas.

Ric Flair was on MyTV New England's Big Time Wrestling premiere episode Friday that featured John Walters vs. Justin Credible. Flair did an angle with John Cena Sr. on the show.

WSOC-TV is reporting that Ric Flair's 21 year old son Reid was again arrested on Sunday in Charlotte, NC. The Mecklenburg County PD did a traffic stop with Flair in the drivers seat at 2:48pm on April 26th. He was charged with felony possession of heroin (since it was in a car he was driving, it's technically under his control), a misdemeanor for another unspecified drug possession, driving while impaired, and driving with a revoked license. Total bonds were $15,000. He is likely facing jail time as he was previously arrested on March 4th for DWI and was also arrested in June of 2007 for assault and battery.

Stan Hansen's son Shaver, who is in his junior season as a baseball player at Baylor, was featured in a story by WFAA-TV in the Dallas-Fort Worth area last week. A few references were made about his famous father. You can read the story by clicking here.

"Playboy" Buddy Rose passed away last week due to natural causes at the age of 56. "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers released the following statement about his late tag team partner: "Mr. Somers would like to thank everyone for their condolences on the passing of his former tag team partner, and more importantly, his friend of over 40 years, ?Playboy? Buddy Rose. He would like to request at this time that all interview/appearance requests and sympathies are sent to this email for the time being, as he can devote time for his loss and grievance in the company with his close family and friends. These messages will be forwarded to Mr. Somers promptly in one forwarded email at the same time and will be held confidential. Another statement will be released in due time after he has come to terms with the loss of his friend." The e-mail address to send all correspondeces to is casey@carnagecrew.net.

On his website last week, Lanny Poffo had this to say about the passing Buddy Rose: "I've just learned that my friend, Paul Perschmann (Playboy Buddy Rose) died. He was 56. I used to watch his matches in Oregon and Washington in 1978. When he lost a haircut match, he got a wig and performed. When Jimmy Snuka would take his wig off, the crowd would pop. I watched, waited and remembered. In 1990, Brutus Beefcake cut off my hair. I bought several wigs and pretended to be humiliated when Hulk Hogan would take off my wig. The fans enjoyed it but the credit goes to Buddy Rose. I stole his gimmick... God bless you Buddy!"

Asylum Championship Wrestling announced last week that their event scheduled for May 16th has been moved to May 23rd. They have said that the May 16th tickets that are already purchased or obtained will be honored on May 23rd.

"Bigfoot the Legacy" featuring Matt Riviera is almost complete and will debut in May with a premiere in Little Rock, AR. For more info, go to BigfootTheLegend.com.

Oklafan would like to congratulate Nathan Sensation on his recent marriage.

The Scoop will be moved to Fridays starting May 15th.
