JR's Blog: MASSIVE Q&A's answered.....Santina....MMA....Jeff Hardy....Lesnar...2010 WWE HOF & more covered

Posted: May 2nd 2009 By: mikeiles

I have spent approximately 4 hours today updating the Q&A section of our site. I hope that you will take the time to check it out. The questions were varied and covered a wide spectrum of issues.

Many fans emailed us their thoughts on my interaction with Santina/Santino at Backlash and many of them had much stronger feelings on that issue than did I. The bit was simply an aspect of the TV show that happened to catch me by surprise. It was intended to be funny and entertaining. Some folks thought it was and some thought it wasn't. Santino Marella is a colorful, entertaining and funny character on a TV show, end of story. Some fans even suggested that I should have "quit your job" and "walked out" of the PPV. Now THAT would have been an intelligent decision. It's show biz folks and some of it we will like and some of it we won't. I've had worse days on the job and seen far less funny attempts at humor on a wrestling show so I easily moved on and tried to contribute to two title matches which immediately followed the foray into comedy at Backlash.

I'm going with Manny Pacquiao over Ricky Hatton Saturday night in Vegas. Both men are warriors and this could be the most entertaining boxing PPV of the year. Batista will apparently be in Manny's corner but I also know that Batista is a Hatton fan too. Nonetheless I don't think this one will go the distance but if it does it will be an epic battle of wills.

There are lots of emails you can read in the Q&A Section regarding rumors of Jeff Hardy's WWE contract status. I do not know the details of this matter and if I did I would not divulge them. However, any wrestler should have the opportunity to step away and take a hiatus when the time and circumstances dictate such. I am not saying this is what Jeff is or isn't going to do but perhaps, in hindsight, more wrestlers should consider such during their careers. Jeff is a star and is doing great on Smackdown. Jeff is in the main event at Judgment Day. Jeff is earning a great living. But Jeff is Jeff, and I mean that respectfully, so any thing that he does inside the ring or out wouldn't totally surprise me. This whole matter will be analyzed to death before it is all said and done and no one will know the correct answer but Jeff and those within WWE hierarchy. They will let us know when we need to know is my guess. Until then, don't over think it and simply embrace Jeff Hardy's in ring abilities on Friday nights and look forward to his match with Edge for the World's Title in Chicago at Judgment Day.

Will the Jose Canseco MMA fight in Japan ever take place? It will be a cartoon of epic proportions if it does and an embarrassment to MMA overall. My guess is that Canseco simply needs the payday but that he will back out of the circus he's scheduled to compete in sooner than later. I don't however think that this desperate attempt at a TV rating will adversely affect UFC as that would be like comparing a semi-pro football league to the NFL. However, talking heads who are often times "too cool and hip" for their on good on the SportsCenters of the world will have a field day with this matter. Hopefully they will know the difference between this farce and UFC.

Fans don't understand why WWE interfaced with ABC's "The View" which surprises me. WWE wants to be a vital part of pop culture and "The View" is a part of pop culture and has more men watching it than one would think. Plus, many of the women who regularly watch "The View" have husbands and/or boy friends who are WWE fans. It's all about exposure and getting it on a quality, high profile TV program isn't a bad thing. Reaching new sets of eyes is crucial. Wouldn't you agree that it beats being "featured" on TMZ on a regular basis?

I have some personal thoughts on the recent Reid Flair controversy that I am likely going to write about later this weekend. This probably won't be a happy, feel good blog.

Again, please check out our Q&A section as we cover a wide range of questions and comments. If you have time, we always encourage you to do a little shopping with us from time to time as that's how we keep this site alive and well. I could BS you about this matter but that's not my style even though some say that I BS for a living. Is that so wrong?! :)

I'm heading to the Q&A section now....how about you??
