The ignorance will never end

The ignorance will never end

The following is a commentary from pro wrestler and Oklahoma native "Impressive" Anthony Wayne, taken from his My Space blog. The opinions and views in this commentary is that of Anthony Wayne only and do not necessarily reflect the opinions and views of any member of the Oklafan staff.

"I know exactly what the guys go through. I used to be in wrestling journalism back in the late 90's. I've done extensive research in the sport. I've written academic papers about the sport as a matter of fact. I'm friends with wrestlers. Actually, I was giving one guy advice on his hurt shoulder at the last show."

The above is an exact quote from some idiot on a promotion's message board in Texas whom I have a friend that wrestles for. He called me and told me about it, and his girlfriend sent me the actual quote you see here.

Now, I want to go on record here: I said that the above is a quote from something this idiot posted on that particular wrestling promotion's message board. First and foremost, I don't believe that a wrestling promotion should have a message board for the idiots and the trolls to post anything on. Should a promotion have a website or a myspace? Sure. Use it for what it should be though, advertising and promoting your show. Don't give these dummies an outlet to run their mouths about your promotion, the wrestlers, or the opportunity to act like like they know anything about the business when they don't. If this promotion didn't have a message board on their website, this dummy could never have publicly said something so stupid under the very banner of said promotion.

Now, on to the fun part. Let's play a game I like to call "bury the troll". We will now systematically dismantle this moron's piss igonorant statement piece by piece...

"I know exactly what the guys go through..."

I'll pick this, the dumbest part of his drivel, apart by using no more than myself as an example, let alone the thousands of others from other guys I could bring up. I'll use only myself. You know exactly what I go through, you jackass? Ok, then when was the last time you had a concussion? The last time you had your right hand stepped on and were left practically unable to do simple daily activites? When was the last time you had your left hand stepped on and swelled to the point your finger was deformed and you couldn't even wear your wedding ring for six months? When was the last time your knees were smashed, swelled up the size of baseballs? When was the last time you were thrown from the middle of the ring to concrete 8 feet below? When was the last time you landed on your head, twisting your spine in the opposite direction of what it's actually supposed to bend? When was the last time you almost broke your thumb? When was the last time you were slammed off a stage to bare concrete below, then the next day made a 31, yes, I said 31 hour drive to wrestle on the opposite side of the country for a week, leaving a girlfriend back home crying on the phone each night because she missed you so much? When was the last time you landed on your elbow, swelling it up the size of a baseball, your entire arm turning black, blue, and purple for a month, but still wrapped it up and didn't miss a match? When was the last time you pulled your quad muscle, being left barely able to walk, but still made a two hour drive to a booking alone, having to have someone in the dressing room lace your boots for you because you were unable to lean over to do so yourself, but still went to the ring? When was the last time your entire body hurt for a week after being kicked repeatedly full force by a girl you wrestled who is also a soccer player? Do you have a constant stiff neck that you can't turn fully in either direction because of nine years of the beatings you've taken in 14 states and over 40 promotions? When was the last time you left a show at 11pm over four hours from home, drove straight through, almost falling asleep at the wheel and having a wreck because your payoff wasn't enough to afford a motel? I could go on here, and this is just myself as an example, but I think you get the point.

"I used to be in wrestling journalism back in the late 90's. I've done extensive research in the sport. I've written academic papers about the sport as a matter of fact."

This is the part that irritates me most. Some schmuk that's had his head up that idiot Dave Meltzer's bunghole since he was a kid thinks he knows something about wrestling. Back in the late 90's? You were nothing more than a mark during a wrestling boom period. I could do "extensive research" into quantum physics, but I'm here to tell you right now, that dosen't mean I could walk into the University of Tennessee tomorrow and they'd hire me to teach that class. I don't care how many dirt sheets, books, or troll message boards idiots like this guy "research", get it through your thick skull, it dosen't mean you know a frigging thing about professional wrestling, and it dang sure dosen't qualify you to write papers or claim you know a thing about what we do, who we are, or what we go through, because mark my words, you don't! Fact of the matter is, all the guys like you find it so easy to sit back and peck your keyboards running off at the mouth, but the truth is, each and every one of you, I don't care if you'd ever admit it or not, want to be in ours, the real wrestlers, shoes, so bad you can't stand it. So why aren't you? I'll tell you why not...you couldn't cut it for five minutes in a wrestling ring, couldn't hang for one day on the road doing what we do. You are clueless. So you hide behind your little computers, because since you didn't have the guts, have what it took to actually be in the wrestling business, you want to tear it down, you want to live in your little fantasy world pretending you know something. Believe me, that's the biggest delusion you'll ever have in your pea size brain.

"I'm friends with wrestlers..."

This is the easiest part of your ignorance to dismantle. No you're not. No real wrestler would consider a sniveling little internet troll like you a friend if they truly cared about the business, so no. You have no wrestlers as friends.

"Actually, I was giving one guy advice on his hurt shoulder at the last show..."

Great. You wanna dish out medical advice, go become a nurse, you pansy. Anybody that could read "The dummies guide to first aid" could give that kind of advice. You think that makes you something special? Get real. Get a life. Come give me advice the next time I get hurt in the ring, you mark, and I'll make whatever body part it is on you match mine. Shut up already.

I haven't went off on a rant like this in a while, but if someone dosen't address these fools, the ignorance will go on and on, and my fear is we're already too late.
