Two Cents Worth

Well, folks, J-Dub is coming to you on a somber note this time. After an exciting MWA show, the following day provided a couple of lows for this old redneck. First of all, my rottweiler, Harley, died. He was roughly 500 lbs. (exaggerating, of course) of big, goofy fun. Then, Mrs. McGillicutty, the sexiest woman in our trailer park, and I were taking her daddy's new pickup out for a test run and creamed a deer, which caused some pretty good damage on his first day of ownership. So, I'm happy to be here, safe and sound, on the computer, doing one of the things I love doing best...talkin' rasslin', with special emphasis on the MWA show. As one of my heroes says, let's "git 'r done"

El Super Colibri v. "Handsome" Jack Legacy

Well, Colibri finally stepped into the batter's box and got himself a hit. A little late, since were no longer in October, but better late than never. Unfortunately, the victory was at the expense of "Handsome" Jack. In the opinion of this journalist, that makes the win twice as big because it's Colibri's first victory in the MWA, and it was against a very impressive opponent in Legacy. Coibri's celebration was short-lived, however, because the debuting X-Cal attacked the luchadore, nailed him with the shooting star press, and then berated Colibri's fans. This could turn into a very fun, high-flying fued. (See more later).

Winner: El Super Colibri

Canadian Red Devil v. Jonathan Cross

Jonathon Cross, debuting in the MWA in place of the injured Michael Barry, had his hands full with the crafty Canadian Red Devil. Once again, CRD was mauled by the MWA fans, this time chosen over a man with the last name of Cross. However, the story here is the amazing match these two stars displayed. This may be another budding feud in the MWA, as these two fought to a double countout, which had to be broken up by the referees. Also, it left CRD with a possibly broken hand. We'll keep you updated on the Red Devil. Stay tuned for more from Jonathan Cross.

Max McGuirk v. Dustin Heritage

This match was my sleeper pick for possible match of the night. I'm still not sure if it was or not, but it was an incredible match. Dustin Heritage made is debut a good one against the third-generation Max McGuirk, though he was on the losing end of the scale. McGuirk, who was on a roll after last-month's battle royal win, got the victory over Heritage, but Heritage certainly opened some eyes in the MWA...and not just the ones of the ladies that were drooling over his 215 lbs. of man-pretty. I promise, you haven't seen the last of Dustin Heritage.

Winner: Max McGuirk

Bernard Funk v. X-Cal

Bernard Funk, after returning from a month-long hiatus from the ring, had a rude welcoming in the form of X-Cal, a third debuting star for the MWA. However, Funk was well rested, and X-Cal, who seemed to be nursing an injured ankle was on the receiving end of the benefits of Funk's break. Make no mistake about it, though, X-Cal pulled off several high-flying moves and seemed to have the crafty veteran in a world of trouble, but X-Cal's earlier karma came back to get him, as El Super Colibri returned X-Cal's favor by paying him a visit. Colibri, however, cost X-Cal a victory in his debut match and added fuel to what will most likely turn into a wildfire.

Winner: Bernard Funk

Blake Albright v. "Terrific" Tim Rockwell

This match wasn't on the original card for the evening, but in an interview with Albright earlier in the evening, it was revealed by Mike Iles that Albright would face Rockwell, and if Albright won, Rockwell would not only face Max McGuirk in December, but Albright would be added into the match to make it a triple-threat contest for the MWA heavyweight title. Albright went into the match knowing that he was skating on thin ice, as two losses to Rockwell didn't look good on his resume. However, the young star delivered big time by getting the victory over Rockwell and catapulting himself into a three-way dance for the MWA title in December.

Winner: Blake Albright

Old School Express v. Gentlemen Thugs: Old School Butt Whoopin' Match

Isn't there an adage that goes something like, if you talk the talk, you better walk the walk? Well, the OSE set the challenge in October for an Old School Butt Whoopin' match against the Gentlemen Thugs. The Thugs accepted. OSE agreed to put the Southern-States tag-team titles on the line. The Thugs agreed. However, OSE forgot to deliver the old school butt whoopin'. Now, I'm not taking anything away from OSE, because they are my buddies, but the Thugs are intelligent. They had a back up plan in the form of the masked Texas Assassin. This masked man helped the Thugs get the victory in what was one of the strangest endings to a match that I've seen, and become the new Southern States Tag Team Champions.

Winners: Gentlemen Thugs

Before I sign off, I've got a message for the Texas Assassin. The Southern States tag-team titles are a valuable asset to have in one's possession. I have a feeling you knew that, and you cost my friends the belts. That's fine, but I'm going to cost you something. You see, you remind me of someone, but I can't place it right now. I've got the video tape, and I'm going to do some investigating, and when I find out who you are...I'm going to let the whole world know. And that my friends, is my two-cents worth.
