NEWS
The inaugural men’s and women’s WWE ID Champions will be crowned in Rutherford, NJ on August 1st. Kylie Rae vs. Zara Zakher vs. Zayda Steel will determine the women’s champion. The men’s champion will be a singles match featuring whichever two wrestlers advance out of Cappuccino Jones, Brad Baylor, Ice Williams, Sean Legacy, Jack Cartwell, and Bryce Donovan.

Goldberg and Jade Cargill made appearances on WXIA’s “11 Alive News” in Atlanta, GA to promote WWE’s events in the city. Click here to watch Goldberg’s segment and click here to watch Cargill’s.

Latest additions to the WWE Vault is Goldberg vs. Bobby Lashley in a Falls Count Anywhere Match from “Crown Jewel 2021”.

WWE Vault also premiered a Georgia Championship Wrestling house show from August 28, 1983 at The Omni in Atlanta, GA. Top matches include Roddy Piper vs. Buzz Sawyer in a Dog Collar Match, and The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) vs. Mr. Wrestling I & Mr. Wrestling II.

The “WWE: Unreal” series on Netflix is set to premiere on July 29th. According to Netflix, the show will “go backstage with WWE Superstars and staff as they bring the company’s biggest spectacles to life.” During his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts was asked to give his thoughts on the concept. He said “Oh well, they’ve done everything else and made money with it. They might as well do that too… I think it’s foolish. I don’t think that product will ever warrant enough money being made for the damage that it’ll do. So, that’s just my own thoughts.”

As seen during WWE’s “Night of Champions” premium live event, Sami Zayn defeated Karrion Kross in Kross’ first PLE match since “WrestleMania 40” in April 2024. While speaking to “Foundation Radio”, Kross commented on the match saying “People, fans all over the world are the reason why I was on ‘Night of Champions’. This was something I was told about last minute. This is not something that was in the works. I want people to know that they made that happen. They gave me the time that I really, really have wanted for years now to be able to go out there, tell a story on television, and then blow the match off in a PLE.” Kross, who attacked Zayn with a pipe on the July 7th 2025 edition of “WWE Monday Night RAW”, received “We want Kross” chants from the fans.

While speaking to the “Battleground” podcast, Karrion Kross reflected on facing Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose) in 2019 after Moxley left WWE: “Jon’s a former WWE Champion, he’s competed and performed with some of the best people in the world [like] Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, The Shield, you know. I didn’t know him, I put out a promo attempting to peak intrigue to see if that’s a match people wanted. They wanted it. He didn’t know me. I didn’t know him. I really wanted to work with him as soon as I found out that, you know, he wasn’t signed. And he showed up, and we didn’t know each other. We worked and then as soon as we got backstage — I don’t want to … it feels weird talking about somebody else giving you compliments about your work. It is. But he was very complimentary, and that’s where that conversation began. And not to stir the pot, but I want Jon to be happy wherever he is, [but] I do hope one day that he does come back to WWE because I think it would be insane. I would love to compete with him here so we can we can finish what we started.”

Just prior to WWE’s “Night of Champions” premium live event, C. M. Punk publicly apologized for his “suck a blood money covered d*ck in Saudi Arabia” post from 2020. After “Night of Champions”, Paul “Triple H” Levesque said that he was “incredibly proud” of Punk for apologizing to Saudi Arabia fans. While speaking on his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross gave his thoughts on C. M. Punk being referred to as a “hypocrite” by fans for wrestling in Saudi Arabia: “It’s overthought…Overthought, and I know that Punk’s heart is in the right place. He’s controversial, that’s why he’s so fun to follow. Phil’s a good friend of mine. I am a full-on supporter of his work, I really am; I still wish he was at AEW, quite frankly. He adds a lot to any presentation that he’s involved in. So, I think we’re overthinking it a little bit quite honestly.” Rob Van Dam also came to Punk’s defense when asked about the Saudi Arabia criticism.

While speaking on his podcast, veteran wrestling personality Jim Cornette gave his review of John Cena’s match with C. M. Punk at WWE’s “Night of Champions”. Cornette praised the encounter until the referee bump, saying “I’ve loved this match up until this point. The only thing they can do when a match is not no DQ is knock the referee out, which I’m not opposed to… but the problem is now referee bumps have evolved into the referee has been placed in a f*cking medically induced coma… and is going to be down for 10 minutes. The music is playing over the loudspeaker. What’s the referee supposed to think unless he’s completely slapped dab unconscious, in which case some doctor needs to be bringing over a God d*mn oxygen tank. It was a different f*cking match for about five minutes. Yeah, here, now, let’s all go to the lobby… We’ll come back in five minutes when the match we were watching starts back up. I thought it was a real good match, until it became sports entertainment instead of wrestling, and then everybody came out, and they just lost the f*cking plot.”

During his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase commented on modern wrestling saying “It’s so hard for me to watch today’s product because I watch them and it’s like, okay, I might as well be watching a tumbling match because all I see is them doing high spots. I used to take a bump, we call it an a** bump where the guy picks you up and it looks like he’s dropping your rear end right on his leg. I would take that and then I would bounce off of that and I knew how to hit the rope at just the right part of my body to where my legs would fly up and I would go over the top rope to the floor.” DiBiase continued, “Now today, you do that, they bounce up like nothing happened. I would lay there and sell it. All you young wrestlers out there, learn how to sell. In other words, there’s got to be a reason for a babyface to make a comeback, and unless he sells, I mean, your comeback is only going to be as good as your sell-job.”

It was announced on Ross & Marshall Von Erich’s podcast “The Claw Pod” that their father Kevin Von Erich has been signed to an AEW contract. Kevin has made regular cameo appearances for AEW in recent years, but is now officially part of the AEW team on a deal similar to a WWE Legends contract, according to his sons.

During the “Full Send Podcast”, Hulk Hogan was asked about “personal beef” that Scott Steiner had with him and Hogan commented “Scott Steiner, “I tried to help and no one would talk to him. Everybody was scared to death of him so I was the one that always had to go talk to him and say ‘Scott I need you to do the job. I’m here to try to talk to you about business but if you don’t want to do it that’s okay, we’ll get somebody else to do it you know.'”

During an interview with “The Breakfast Club”, Ric Flair commented on why he isn’t on his own Mount Rushmore of most important wrestlers. He said “I think it’s better to have somebody else put you there. My Mount Rushmore in terms of importance to the business is Stone Cold (Steve Austin), Hulk (Hogan), obviously, Undertaker, and I think Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels is the greatest performer of all time in our business. I can do a little of everything. That doesn’t make me the best. I’m just being me [laughs]. I never say stuff like that. I consider myself to be lucky to be considered one of the best.” Flair also commented on why The Rock isn’t on the list either saying “He would be, except he didn’t stay long enough. I think part of the Mount Rushmore is longevity. It’s hard to be really good, and The Rock was great. But he took off. He’s on my Mount Rushmore for interview skills and everything else, and I remain very close to him.”

Teddy Long has disclosed that WCW continued to pay The Iron Sheik even after he was fired from the promotion. In a candid chat on “WrestleBinge”, Long said “They did that one time at WCW. I remember they paid The Iron Sheik and God rest his soul, and they had already fired him. Well, those guys had contracts, that's what I'm saying, they had contracts. When they fired Sheik, they never called their office and told them that he was fired. So, they never ended his contract. They kept on paying him.”

The Cauliflower Alley Club is spearheading donations for Wendi Richter, who lost her home and most of her possessions in a house fire. You can go to CaliflowerAlleyClub.org/Donations and put FOR WENDI RICHTER.

Women’s wrestling historian Ken Raftery noted that Wendi Richter’s home burning down is the same thing that happened to The Fabulous Moolah’s home a few years ago, noting what are the odds it would happen to both of their homes.

Buff Bagwell has disclosed that Marty Jannetty is in the final days of his life. On his YouTube channel, Bagwell said "His ankles are in horrible condition, and his ankles are gonna take him away from us before anything, but he's just in a horrible place. He is definitely going to be the next one to leave us, and I truthfully don't know what to do. I'm remembering everything I've learned with AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and getting sober is you've gotta wanna do it, brother, and he is not at his rock bottom. He's not even close to his rock bottom."

OMW Heavyweight Champion Ivan Warsaw was scheduled to defend the title against TNA’s Moose at the Ozark Mountain Wrestling event in Rogers, AR on July 19th. However, Warsaw (real name Kevin Nykiel) died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen on July 10th. The shooting is considered an active investigation and no arrests have been made. Warsaw competed as Knuckles Madsen in NXT in 2012-2013. Moose posted on X "Wow…… this hit hard just got the news on Kevin Nykiel we were supposed to wrestle next weekend but his life got taken way too early….. Great human Great Heart Great pro wrestler you will be missed dearly. Rest Easy".

It was confirmed by the great-granddaughters of Cowboy Bob Ellis that he passed away in 2018 in Ardmore, OK at the age of 96. He was long believed to be the oldest living pro wrestler.
