NEWS
On the latest edition of the "DDP Snakepit" podcast, WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Jake “The Snake” Roberts gave his thoughts on the infamous backstage melee that occurred in AEW following their "ALL OUT" pay-per-view, which saw CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks all get into a physical confrontation that led to their ultimate suspensions. Roberts said it really isn’t the public’s business and hates that the fight happened when it did. He said “It’s none of my d*** business and it’s none of the fans’ business either. Stupid s*** happens in this world every day and I just hate that these young guys chose a fight when they did.” On how CM Punk and The Elite are most likely regretting the dispute, he aid “I’m sure that they’re regretting it and I think that they know the best thing they can do is turn the belts over to a tournament. It was wise and go AEW, man. I’m all for you guys, I love you guys to death. You know, I’m still employed there.”

Eddie Kingston spoke to Sports Illustrated about facing Sammy Guevara on Friday’s "AEW Rampage - Grand Slam". He said “There’s nothing like fighting at home. I wouldn’t say it’s going to be magic – but it is going to be me beating him up. I don’t doubt he’ll fight back. Sammy can go. There’s a lot you can say about him; there’s a lot I can say about the young man, but he’s a former champion – three different times. Sammy can bring it. He has a lot of pride, but pride is the first step to a man’s downfall.”

WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded a Goldberg segment from the April 3, 2017 episode of "WWE Monday Night RAW". Among the matches added this week were Goldberg vs. Kane from the December 8, 2003 edition of RAW, Goldberg vs. Bam Bam Bigelow from "WCW SuperBrawl IX", and Beth Phoenix vs. Nikki Bella in a Lumberjill Match for the Divas Championship from the April 23, 2012 episode of RAW.

With the recent news of Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat lacing up his wrestling boots again after 12 years, Ric Flair has spoken about how he now wants to come back...again! Speaking on his podcast "To Be The Man", Flair, who recently had his "last match" at the end of July, said that Steamboat is better than 50% of the guys in the business today at every level. "He wouldn’t get in the ring if he wasn’t. He holds himself to a very high standard, and I imagine he’ll probably look better than the guys he’s in the ring with because he’s always in good shape," Flair said. The Nature Boy noted that he has been doing training again and admitted seeing Steamboat come back makes him want to do it all over again. "Steamboat coming back makes me want to come back again," Flair said. Steamboat refused to be part of the "Ric Flair's Last Match" event in Nashville and said he prefers for fans to have the last image of him against Chris Jericho in a WWE ring from over a decade ago when fans chanted "You still got it!" Something, obviously, changed a lot in the span of a few months as now Steamboat will be headlining a Big Time Wrestling event on November 27th in Raleigh, NC.

Steve Fall from NBC Sports Boston recently conducted an interview with the great Al Snow, who spoke on a number of hot-button topics in the wrestling industry, including his thoughts on AEW holding post-show media scrums, which he believes ruins the illusion the sport is attempting to create. Here are highlights from the interview: Talks pro-wrestling being an illusion: “We all know a magician is not up there defying the laws of physics or altering reality. We know that, but they don’t disclose to us while we’re watching it to ruin it for us … I want to keep that mystery, because that’s part of the fun.” Why he believes post-show media scrums break the illusion of the product: “That’s like if you’re going to watch The Avengers or Spider-Man and during the movie they literally look at you in the camera and go, ‘Yeah, you know, this is all B.S., we’re not really doing this — I mean, it’s no big deal.’ You don’t want that. You want to be able to believe, you want to be able to care, and you want to be able to enjoy it and suspend that disbelief. The hardest thing to achieve these days is to get and capture someone’s attention, and then it’s even more of a challenge to hold it, keep it and then to be able to monetize it. Why in the world would you conduct these media scrums and then basically up the incline to the point where it’s near impossible to gather the general audience’s attention and then keep it and then monetize? … You don’t think that you’re capable of getting and garnering and building an audience that is not already built in as a wrestling audience.”

Missy Hyatt has filed a trademark for the nickname "First Lady of Professional Wrestling" for marketing ideas.
