NEWS
EPW announced that Striker would be the first inductee into their Hall of Fame at their anniversary show in November.

PWInsider.com is reporting that several WWE Superstars, including former champions A. J. Styles and Rey Mysterio, will be traveling to Saudi Arabia next week to promote WWE at "Gamers8", the biggest event for electronic sports and games in the world currently being held in Riyadh over 8 weeks, running through September 8th. The event is organized by the Saudi Esports Federation and focuses on professional esports and gaming, entertainment events, concerts and “The Next World Summit”, which will bring together sector leaders and experts from around the world. WWE will be returning to Saudi Arabia later this year for "Crown Jewel" in Riyadh which will be held on November 5th. The Kingdom is an important financial matter for WWE as each event they hold there is worth $50 million irrespective of how many people show up and how much gate money the show makes. The company travels to Saudi Arabia twice a year as part of a 10-year deal struck between WWE and the Saudi General Sport Authority.

It has been reported that in the wake of Vince McMahon's retirement last week, WWE used other producers for matches and interviews. For RAW on July 25th, they used Michael Hayes, Chris Park (AKA Abyss), Petey Williams, Jason Jordan, Molly Holly, Shane Helms (AKA The Hurricane), and Adam Pearce. For SmackDown on July 29th, they used Hayes, Park, Pearce, Shawn Daivari, T. J. Wilson, Jamie Noble, Jordan, and Holly.

After some turbulent times over the past couple of weeks, Team Taz is officially done. During Wednesday's episode of "AEW Dynamite", Taz announced that the group was done, ending a longstanding union between some of the biggest names in All Elite Wrestling. This seemed to come to a head last week, where, after Hook defeated fellow Team Taz member Ricky Starks for the FTW Championship, Starks was attacked by Powerhouse Hobbs. The situation apparently was the final straw for the group, and Taz made the announce right before Hobbs took to the ring to defeat Ren Jones in a fully dominant win. For now, it’s unclear what the future will hold for the three superstars, but Hook will continue to defend his newly won FTW Championship while the other two look to establish a name for themselves.

Jerry “The King” Lawler was among the names to make surprise appearances at "Ric Flair’s Last Match" event on Sunday night inside the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN. In the main event, Flair teamed with his son-in-law Andrade el Idolo to take on Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett. During the event, there was an interview in Jarrett’s locker room where Lawler gave Jeff a pep talk and stated Flair stole his strut from Jackie Fargo. Lawler wanted Jeff to do the Fargo strut over Flair’s unconscious body by the night’s end.

Superstars and Hall of Famers turned up in Nashville for "Ric Flair’s Last Match" on Sunday and gave the Nature Boy a sendoff for the ages. Sitting at ringside were The Undertaker and his wife Michelle McCool, Mick Foley, Bret Hart, Dallas Page, Vickie Guerrero, Kid Rock, Jerry Jarrett, J. J. Dillon, and many others. Those who couldn’t make it, such as Jim Ross, Sting, Shawn Michaels, Trish Stratus, J. B. L., Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Lex Luger, Jake Roberts, Kurt Angle, Nick Aldis, Jerry Lawler, Dixie Carter, and Booker T all sent video messages which aired throughout the broadcast. Following the match, a visibly tired and emotional Flair was interviewed by Tony Schiavone, who told Ric that he doesn’t care if he bleeds all over him. Flair thanked his family for coming out to see him and his friends who supported him. He also thanked the crowd, who said without them, they would be nothing. Flair then mentioned that he was about to go downtown and drink with Kid Rock, so “How about that shit?!” Everyone involved in the show, including referees, all came to ringside for the interview. Flair wore the original Big Gold Belt for his entrance, a belt which is owned by his son-in-law Conrad Thompson.

Following Sunday's "Ric Flair's Last Match" pay-per-view, Dave Meltzer provided some notes on how the "Nature Boy" is doing, some changes to the show, and who was handing production. Meltzer said that there were two family doctors backstage that are close with Megan Fliehr, one of Flair's daughters. He said Flair "was said to be fine after the show." "It was interesting because a lot of people I know really liked the main event who were in the building, because of the drama and such, but man, was it hard to watch from home," he said. Meltzer did a roll call of the various wrestling luminaries that were in the house for the event, both in the crowd and backstage: "Mick Foley, Michael Hayes, Shane Helms, Magnum T. A., J. J. Dillon, Vickie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Charlotte Flair, Rikishi, Baby Doll, Al Snow, The Undertaker, Bret Hart, Stephanie Hart, Michelle McCool, Mojo Rawley, Sammy Guevara, Ricky Starks, Billy Gunn, Dorian Roldan, Santino Marella, Kid Rock and likely many others. WWE active talent was not allowed to appear on camera although Dolph Ziggler was in a video clip and called by his real name: Nick Nemeth." He also noted Flair was emotional and crying all day in seeing so many wrestlers and former talent come out for the event.

Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and Andrade el Idolo all spoke to ESPN following their main event match on Sunday with Ric Flair and all of them had one thing in common: pressure. While the years of experience between all four tops 100, participating in a match with a 73-year-old man who just a few years ago was on his deathbed and also has a pacemaker probably isn't the best idea. But for the Nature Boy, there was no other way. "It's his last one. If anything goes wrong, it's on me. It's on others," Jeff Jarrett told Marc Raimondi of ESPN. "I'm so damn happy for Ric, I don't know what to say," he continued, adding that this match had a whole other level of pressure that he's never been under in his entire career. Lethal, who was in charge of training Ric Flair for the past couple of months, didn't look forward to Flair bleeding because it was out of their hands on how much Naitch was going to bleed. Flair did bleed, but wasn't the crimson mask of the past, and thankfully, he was okay. After the match, Lethal met Flair at the top of the ramp and the two embraced, all caught on camera. "I said, 'I fucking love you, you're the fucking man, I'm trying to be like you when I grow up, because you're fucking great. You're the greatest wrestler in the fucking world'," Lethal said. "He starts crying and says, 'Thank you. Thank you so much.'" Flair's son-in-law Andrade el Idolo also had that pressure, after all, it's family for him. "This match is the most important of my career," Andrade said. "This is unbelievable. I don't even have words for this," he continued, adding that Flair is an inspiration for him. At the end of the day, Flair survived, and was immediately checked by two doctors as soon as he stepped foot backstage. He looked tired, gassed out, and at times barely able to walk, but Flair did what he set out to do: entertain the crowd for one last time. The main event was truly a "forbidden door" moment. Jarrett, a WWE Senior Vice President, tagged with Lethal, an AEW star, and took on another AEW star, Andrade, and Flair. The ring announcer, Dave Penzer, was a former WCW guy who now works for Impact Wrestling, the commentary was headed by AEW's Tony Schiavone, and the referee was former WWE senior ref Mike Chioda. The event was produced by Impact Wrestling crew and directed by former WWE producer and current Impact producer David Sahadi.

Ric Flair has done it all in the pro wrestling world, and his name continues to have a lot of value to it. He has faced the best of the best in his decades-long career. He also had an embarrassing incident recently after one of the biggest matches of his career. The Nature Boy competed in the last match of his long, illustrious career. He teamed up with Andrade el Idolo to square off against Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in Nashville, TN on July 31st. Ric Flair took some scary bumps and even bled during the match, something that he promised to do as well. When all was said and done, Ric Flair won the match, but he didn’t do some risky moves. While speaking to Brad Shepard UNLEASHED, Billi Bhatti claimed that Ric Flair went to a strip club called Tootsies and was so inebriated, that he fell on the floor while using the bathroom. “Ric Flair ended up at Tootsie’s strip club and had to be pulled out of the toilet because he was so drunk, he was taking a sh*t with the door open and ended up falling on his face. We needed to close the toilet to pick him up from the floor.”

Ric Flair’s career is full of legendary stories. His last match showed that he went out as he wanted to. In the end, he is still styling and profiling like only The Nature Boy can. According to a report from F4W’s Dave Meltzer (via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter), "Ric Flair’s Last Match" drew a large enough gate to make it the second-biggest modern-era independent wrestling event in the United States. Meltzer reports that “Last Match” had 20,000-25,000 buys via streaming and almost 4200 more through traditional PPV buys. "Ric Flair’s Last Match" saw more than 6,800 fans turn out in Nashville for the event, which resulted in a $448,502 gate. That total would make the Flair event the second-largest indie gate behind 2018’s "All In" event that had brought in $458,525 from 10,541 paid attendees. The "Last Match" card featured Ric Flair teaming with Andrade el Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in the main event, as well as Jordynne Grace vs. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Rachael Ellering, Killer Kross vs. Davey Boy Smith, Jr. and more.

This week’s episode of Ric Flair’s "To Be The Man" podcast features a special roundtable discussion looking back at the “Last Match” event in Nashville. "Battleground" podcast host and radio personality Tim Battle is joined by ESPN’s Jonathan Hood, Sportskeeda’s Kevin Kellam, Bleacher Report’s Graham Matthews and WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard to discuss the event as a whole, the main event itself, the atmosphere of the event, potential for future “Supershow” style events in the same format, and much more.

The Von Erichs (Marshall Von Erich & Ross Von Erich) vs. The Briscoes (Jay Brisscoe & Mark Briscoe) match was pushed back to later on the "Ric Flair’s Last Match" card as Marshall & Ross' flight from Hawaii was delayed. They missed a meet & greet earlier in the day and were rushed to the building upon arrival to make the match.

On his "Hall of Fame" radio show, Booker T said he declined an offer for Harlem Heat to have their last match at "Starrcast" next year. He said “I was approached actually to have a final match next year at 'Starrcast'. Harlem Heat’s final match, here in Texas. I said, ‘Hell no. We ain’t doing none of that.’ I just had a match a couple of weeks ago, my knee was killing me. I can only imagine what it’s going to feel like next year. Y’all can forget about seeing me do one last match. The thing is, I’m still working, I’m still having matches. You’re just never going to see me have a ‘last match.’ You’re never going to see me do much in the ring. I’m never going to build up a match like I’m doing a whole lot. ‘One tag in, one tag out. That’s it, I’m done, where’s my check?’ I learned from one of my teachers back in the day, ‘Hacksaw’ Butch Reed. I got to tag with him down in the Global Wrestling Federation, and he said ‘Man, I’m coming in one time. I’m coming out and asking for my check.’ That’s the way you do it.”

Taya Valkyrie recalls how she almost had a different role in Lucha Underground. Valkyrie was recently on "The Sessions" with Renee Paquette and spoke about how she met her husband, John Hennigan. During the conversation, she also shared how she was originally set to play the role of Kobra Moon, the role that ultimately went to Thunder Rosa. “Well, we first met in person because he would come to AAA once Lucha Underground season one started. He started coming in and of course, whenever someone came in and spoke English I was like ‘Oh my God, you’re my best friend!’ [laughs] We met that way and that was kinda just it,” she explained. “When I found out I was going to Lucha Underground for season two, originally I was supposed to be Kobra Moon. I had done all the measurements and the costume stuff for Kobra Moon, and then they told me when I got there, ‘I hope you brought your regular gear’ and I was like ‘yeah… why?’ They changed everything, and [I’m] just Taya now. I was like ‘OK cool’ and they’re like ‘AND you’re in a faction with Johnny Mundo!’ I’m like, ‘OK… what is happening? Why am I being paired with John Morrison?’ They added P. J. Black and Jack Evans,” Taya noted, “so that was kinda how it started and we were just working together.” Taya explained that she can remember asking him what their dynamic was while shooting a vignette, noting that she wasn’t sure if they were friends or flirty. He said they should just feel it out and the writers agreed, but Taya leaned towards friends because she was nervous. Eventually, John started gravitating toward Taya and she said that he started trying to win her over in an effort to go out with her. “I was sitting in the room where a lot of the AAA guys were, their locker room or whatever and I just went in there to talk to everybody. And I was sitting on the couch, it’s Phoenix on one side and Penta on the other, and John just walks into the room, and he’s like ‘Hola, amigos!,’ and just being really over the top, and everyone’s like ‘What the f-ck’ and he’s just like ‘Taya, can we talk?’ and I was like ‘Yeah, just give me a second,’ he walks out and Fenix and Pentagon are just like ‘Whoa.’ We have been filming a whole season and a half with this guy, and he has never come in here, and now he speaks Spanish?! And then, John wanted to take us all out for dinner, and pay for things, and trying to impress my friends basically. Because, Fenix, Daga, and Penta and I, we all came up together in AAA, and we were like a very tight-knit family dynamic that we had. So I thought John was trying to win over my older brothers, trying to get their approval. And I remember once, Daga even says this too, we were at an afterparty and John is dancing around and being crazy, and Daga is doing the same thing, and I’m just so embarrassed, I was like ‘Oh my god John, stop that. Like, stop it.’ And Daga’s like ‘You better stop doing that, she’s mad!’ Just weird things like. So basically, he followed me around the Temple for weeks until I agreed to go out with him…and here we are, we’ve been married four and a half years, and yeah, life is good.”

Mick Foley pleaded with Gmail for help getting his email account back after it was hacked: “Dear @gmail. This is really me - and I really need to get my account back. Please DM me, so we can actually talk on the phone. Having your identity stolen sucks. Please don’t make it any more difficult than it needs to be to get it back. Sincerely, Mick Foley”
