NEWS
It's time...it's time...it's Vader time! WWE announced on Monday that former WCW World Champion Vader will be posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Vader, real name Leon White, started his pro wrestling career in 1985, first with the AWA, Catch Wrestling Association in Austria and Germany, and New Japan Pro Wrestling. It was in Japan where Vader made a name for himself, becoming the first non-Japanese wrestler to hold IWGP Heavyweight Championship. In 1990, Vader joined WCW while still working for New Japan and in 1991, began full time with the WCW. Vader quickly became one of the monster heels in WCW and was paired with Harley Race, winning the WCW World Title three times and the United States Title once. He joined WWF in 1996, making his debut at the "Royal Rumble". Vader was teamed up with Jim Cornette and worked for the company until 1998. He never won any titles in WWF but became pretty famous for attacking WWF President Gorilla Monsoon, hitting him with a Vader Bomb on an episode of "Monday Night RAW". Vader departed WWF in 1998 and he moved to All Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan, and even TNA, before making sporadic appearances for WWE over the following years. Vader died on June 18, 2018 after he was hospitalized for a month with pneumonia. He was 63 years old.
During an appearance on "Wrestling With Freddie", MVP discussed his recovery from a torn meniscus. He said "I'm going through my physical assessment to get cleared to get back in the ring because I had that knee injury for a while. It's all healed up, it's just a matter of me jumping through hoops to make sure I'm physically capable of performing in the ring. I'm feeling good. The knee injury, the torn meniscus, is completely healed. Now it's just a matter of rebuilding the strength in the leg from the atrophied muscle. My teardrop is gone, nonexistent, we're working on building that back up. My cardio is much better than I thought it would be because I actually hired a trainer and have been working on it. I'm further along than I thought I would be, fortunately, my back isn't gasping for air. I feel pretty damn good.”
Jinder Mahal was in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on March 5th to promote the March 6th WWE house show in Laval, Quebec. He was a special guest for Major League Soccer's Montreal FC opening game at Olympic Stadium and was interviewed during the pregame show on TVA Sports.
WWE’s YouTube channel has uploaded a Goldberg-Brock Lesnar segment from the November 14, 2016 episode of RAW.
Big E's broken neck news seemingly united the usually-divided internet wrestling community as fans rallied behind the former WWE Champion after he was dropped on his head on Friday's episode of SmackDown during a botched belly-t-belly overhead suplex on the floor he received from Ridge Holland. Colleagues from both WWE and AEW also took to social media to wish Big E a speedy recovery. Individuals such as Charlotte Flair, Killer Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux, Mick Foley, Adam Cole, Sasha Banks, Miro, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Wade Barrett, Excalibur, Kyle O'Reilly, Carmella, Mickie James, Shelton Benjamin, Kayla Braxton, Titus O'Neil, Amanda Huber, F. T. R. (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler), and countless of others all sent in their best wishes as Big E now faces a long road of recovery. "Went to see E and he’s in good spirits. Hell of a guy and beyond proud to call him my brother," added Xavier Woods, who is also currently injured. Big E noted that he can move all his fingers which is great news considering he could have been easily paralyzed.
Big E and Goldberg are featured in this week's episode of "Truth or Dab" on the popular "Hot Ones" show on YouTube. Host Sean Evans asks both Big E and Goldberg some questions and if they decide not to answer, they have to eat a very spicy chicken wing. The two also eventually try to cut a promo on each other while eating crazy hot wings standing face to face. Several WWE Superstars have appeared on "Hot Ones" before, including Stone Cold Steve Austin and Sasha Banks. You can watch it by clicking here.
On his "Grilling JR" podcast, Jim Ross spoke about Steve Austin having a confrontation with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 instead of a match. He said "It looks like Austin is not going to do anything at WrestleMania as far as wrestling in the ring. He and I have talked, but at the time we talked, he didn’t know what he was going to do and he didn’t sound overwhelmingly enthusiastic about it. People have to understand that Steve is a perfectionist. Even though he stays in great shape and he looks wonderful, especially for a guy his age, he looks great. He can do a photo shoot and it looks like that can be Steve from any era, but that’s the athlete in him. He likes to train, eat right, and all those things. If he was going to wrestle at WrestleMania, and this is just me talking, I would suggest that it should have been decided six months ago, not only to build a story to that crescendo in Dallas at WrestleMania, but to give him time to train better and have more peace of mind. You know he’s going to hand pick his opponent. Why wouldn’t you let him hand pick his opponent? If you’re the promoter, all you do is you want him on the card so he will sell tickets or pay-per-views. I don’t have a lot of optimism for it. I don’t want to be a negative Nelly, but he’s not going to do it unless he thinks he can pull it off as something perfect, and I don’t know that he can do that even in my mind or his mind with only a few weeks to prepare for it. It all can change by the time people hear this. It could be the biggest announcement of the day, the trending news of the day, I have no idea, but I know him, and he doesn’t like surprises. He likes to prepare, and if anything, over prepare because he always wants to give the fans their money’s worth. He’s got a legacy that he’s built around the Stone Cold brand that he’s not going to purposely, or by his own hand, make himself look bad, and I don’t blame him."
