Pro wrestling star and former Lucha Underground Champion Marty Casaus was the latest guest on the "Wrestling Inc. Daily" to discuss a wide range of topics, most notably what his AEW experience was like and whether he’ll return to the company in the future. Here are some of the highlights from the interview: He says physically he’s the best he’s been in 10 years: “I am better than I have been in years, to be honest. About two years ago, I herniated my L4 – L5 discs in my spine. I had to do some extensive recovery rehab for that. So once I felt like I could move my hips a little bit, I’m like, I got to get into the wrestling ring and rock and roll. So I actually signed up for The Nightmare Factory, run by Cody Rhodes and Q. T. Marshall. Did three months there and now I’m back, and I’m a free agent. It’s time to rock and roll. I had to move to Atlanta for three months to make that happen, and I had a wedding to get to, so I got married last month. I got back in time from training two weeks before my wedding. So I feel kind of bad letting the planner and my wife plan the whole thing. As long as I was there and shut up and said, ‘I do,’ I figured it’d be fine for me, but I got back about a month and a half ago, and then my wedding was a month ago. So back and ready to roll.” On his "AEW Dark" match: “Christopher Daniels was my agent for most of those, and he knows me from my past work and stuff, so he mostly just kind of left me to my own vices. Everyone I had wrestled there are very well respected, Jungle Boy, Cage, so he’s like, ‘Okay, do your thing there’ and just kind of gave me feedback, which was very little feedback. ‘Hey, you could make this a little bit tighter,’ but it was great seeing him again and working with him. It was cool having agents again and being back there. I love it back there because I know everybody still.” What AEW told him regarding his status: “Right now, they told me when they come near my local area, they’ll give me a call. That’s what that is so far. I have a good relationship with everybody, so I don’t think I have any heat with anybody, but I know they are just transitioning now from the pandemic world to being on the road again. They’ll see where the dice falls once they’re back on the road, and then we’ll see what the future holds for me. Tony Khan was always constantly moving like Vince McMahon was when I was doing WWE stuff. He was very hands on. He came up and said ‘great match’ to me every single time. He gave me a little bit of feedback on certain things. I do a thing in Lucha Underground where I pretty much am a serial killer in Lucha Underground. I grab people by their mouth and drag them like dead bodies, like a serial killer would, and it was super fun for me and individualistic, but they said, ‘Hey, anything with the mouth is kind of Britt Baker’s thing right now so kind of adjust around that.’ I kind of adjusted a few things. I went to a choke thing instead of dragging people by their mouths. A few adjustments but he came up to me after every single match and said, ‘Hey man, good job.’ He came up to me the next day, after two out of the three matches and said, ‘Hey man, great job. It’s good to see you,’ but while he’s doing that, he’s also running and jogging back pedaling to get to work. It’s always like, ‘Hey, thanks man. Good job. Thanks for having me. Okay, good seeing you Tony.’ He was very kind to me while I was there and gave me a little bit of feedback for stuff to change. I changed it, and we’ll see what happens in the future with that.”
Lance Archer was the guest on AEW’s "Unrestricted Podcast". About making his debut against Marko Stunt he said: “He’s a very durable young man to say the least. I tossed him from every corner that I could possibly do in every way I could.” You can listen to the whole show by clicking here.
Jon Moxley, fresh off his successful IWGP United States title defense against Karl Anderson last Wednesday night, will have another tough challenge this Wednesday on night two of "Fyter Fest". After defeating Anderson, Lance Archer issued a challenge to Moxley to defend his title in a Texas Death Match, a challenge in which the former AEW champion accepted. This will be their second Texas Death Match against each other as Moxley defeated Archer for the same title in the same gimmick match in January 2020 during IWGP's "Wrestle Kingdom 14".
Beth Phoenix is the guest on this week’s "Oral Sessions" with Renee Paquette.
Ric Flair, Edge, and Rhea Ripley were guests on Wednesday morning’s episode of WWE’s "The Bump".
John Morrison, Riddle, and Zelina Vega will appear on Sunday’s pre-Money in the Bank edition of "The Bump". It’ll air on Peacock and WWE’s social media channels at 2pm Eastern (1pm Central)

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Paul Orndorff, who passed away July 12th at the age of 71. While a specific cause of death has not been released he was known to be suffering from late stage dementia. Orndorff, whose full name was Paul Parlette Orndorff, Jr., was a college football standout for the University of Tampa, where he scored 21 career touchdowns and gained over 2000 yards. He was a 12th round selection in the 1973 NFL draft, but failed the physical and never played for the NFL. After one season with the World Football League, Orndorff began training as a pro wrestler. He debuted in the Memphis territory and traded the NWA Southern Title with Jerry Lawler. He then moved to TSW and began to compete for the North American Title. He captured that title May 29, 1978 from Dick Murdoch but only held it for a week or so, losing it sometime in June to Ernie Ladd. Ladd would also hold it very briefly, dropping it back to Orndorff the same month. Orndorff would lose the belt for the final time to Ladd on August 15, 1978. Orndorff then moved to the NWA, where he teamed with Jimmy Snuka to win the NWA World Tag Team Titles. This began a period where Orndorff was primarily thought of as a tag team competitor as he continued to compete mostly in tag team bouts through 1980 in the South East Championship Wrestling territory. By 1980, Orndorff was splitting his time between South East and Mid-South and that year saw him add the MSW Mid-South Tag Team Titles to his resume. He teamed with Ted DiBiase to dethrone the Fabulous Freebird pairing of Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy on March 10, 1980, but only held the titles for 12 days, losing them back to Hayes & Gordy on March 22, 1980. A brief feud with Ken Mantell followed and then Orndorff once again focused on the MSW version of the North American Title. He was supposed to face The Grappler, but overslept on the day of the match and the match (and belt) went to Jake Roberts. This led to a heel turn by Orndorff, who would defeat Roberts for the title on July 4, 1981. He held on to it until November 1, 1981, when he lost the title to Ted DiBiase and again fate seemed to be plotting against Orndorff, as his rematch for the title didn’t happen due to car trouble. Instead, the title match went to Bob Roop, who was later revealed to have sabotaged Orndorff’s car to begin with. Orndorff left MSW at the end of 1981 without ever regaining the MSW Title. He went to Georgia Championship Wrestling and was involved in one of the most controversial angles. Orndorff captured the NWA National Title on 3 occasions in his time there and during the third reign, he was challenged heavily by Larry Zbyszko. But Zbyszko could never defeat Orndorff, so Zbyszko paid Tim Brooks do to it. Brooks used a steel chair to win the National Title, which he then sold yo Zbyszko for $25,000. Orndorff left that territory and spent several months in Japan before coming to the WWF. Prior to this, he had always been nicknamed “The Brandon Bull”, but upon arriving in the WWF and taking Roddy Piper as a manager, Piper was the one who gave him the nickname “Mr. Wonderful.” Piper and Orndorff would soon be on a collision course with Hulk Hogan and Mr. T, leading to the main event of the first WrestleMania event in 1985. It was Bob Orton, Jr. (who was seconding Piper & Orndorff) that caused that duo to lose when he came off the top rope and his casted arm hit Orndorff in the head, but Piper and Orton blamed Orndorff for the loss, leading to Orndorff forming a partnership with Hogan that would last for the rest of 1985 and much of 1986. That is, until Adrian Adonis began mocking Orndorff, calling him “Hulk, Jr.” and implying that he had gone soft. Tensions grew between the two, culminating in a tag team match where Orndorff & Hogan teamed against King Kong Bundy & John Studd. During that match, Hogan would accidentally collide with Orndorff on the apron and Orndorff refused to tag in and help until Studd & Bundy were double-teaming Hogan. Orndorff cleaned house, helped Hogan to his feet and then delivered “The Clothesline heard ‘Round the World”. Orndorff and Hogan would go on to feud for the rest of 1986, main eventing "Saturday Night’s Main Event" in a Steel Cage Match with a disputed Double Finish as well as drawing 76,000 fans to Toronto Stadium in what Orndoff felt was the biggest match of his career. But during this feud, Orndorff suffered an injury to his right arm in a weightlifting accident. Because he was in such a high-profile program, he did not want to take time off. That injury would plague him in various ways for the rest of his career. Orndorff did take time off after the Hogan feud, only to come back and discover that he had been replaced in The Heenan Family with Rick Rude. He teamed with Hogan, Bam Bam Bigelow, Ken Patera, and Don Muraco against Andre the Giant, The One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Rick Rude, & Butch Reed at the inaugural "Survivor Series" event, which would be his last major appearance for WWF. A feud with Rude would follow and he left the WWF at the beginning of 1988. The injury to his arm forced him into semi-retirement and he focused on running a bowling alley in Fayetteville, NC, which led many fans to speculate that he had died. He would return to wrestling, though his right arm was notably smaller due to the neck injury which had caused nerve damage in his right arm. He joined WCW in 1990 and became a member of the Dudes with Attitudes, challenging Arn Anderson for the WCW World Television Title, but was never able to beat him for it and left before the year was up. He went to Herb Abrams’ UWF and became the first UWF Southern States Champion, holding that title until he vacated it when he left the promotion in early 1993. He also participated in the tournament to crown the first Smoky Mountain Champion in 1992 and made it to the finals, where he was beaten by Brian Lee. He would return to WCW in 1992 and finally win the WCW World Television Title, albeit as a heel, after a tournament victory over Erik Watts. After losing that belt to Ricky Steamboat, Orndorff once again became a tag team competitor, forming the team Pretty Wonderful with Paul Roma and defeating Kevin Sullivan and Cactus Jack for the WCW World Tag Team Titles. They would swap the belts with Stars and Stripes (Marcus Bagwell & The Patriot). By this point, Orndorff’s injuries had led to severe atrophy of the muscles in his arms and leg, forcing him to retire in 1995. He then began working as a trainer and road agent for WCW. In 1999, he wrestled a handicap match on "WCW Monday Nitro" against The Harris Twins (Ron Harris & Don Harris), but suffered a neck injury that forced the match to be stopped. This led to a final retirement and he then began to run the WCW Power Plant, where he trained several wrestlers, including The Natural Born Thrillers. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, appeared at WrestleMania XXX, and appeared a couple of times on RAW in 2014, most notably for a birthday celebration for Hulk Hogan. He was inducted into both the NWA Hall of Fame and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009. He was inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2017. On May 3, 2017, he participated in the last match of his life, a 6-Man Tag Team Match for Canadian Wrestling's Elite in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, at the age of 67. In total, Orndorff appeared on 37 documented Oklahoma cards. The earliest was a TSW card on December 12, 1977, where he beat Brian Blair. The last was a WCW card on August 26, 1994, where he teamed with Paul Roma and lost a non-title match to The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags).
Paul Orndorff’s family have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with the costs of his funeral. The campaign currently has raised $9,185 of a $18,000 goal, with 342 donors. The goal was originally set at $25,000. The GoFundMe page can be found here.
In an update, Paul Orndorff's son Travis posted a photo of his father wearing his rings for the WWE Hall of Fame 2005 Class, the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame 2017 Class, and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame 2009 Class. Orndorff was also inducted into the 2009 NWA Hall of Fame Class and the University of Tampa’s Football Hall of Fame, Class of 1986. He noted that Pastor Ike Reighard of the Piedmont Church will be speaking at Orndorff’s memorial, which will be held at New Hope First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA. Additional details on the public service will be announced soon. Travis has also shared a few family photos with his father. He indicated on social media that he brought his father home to live with him during the first week of July as they prepared for his farewell.
