John Morrison has transformed into “Johnny Drip Drip” in recent months, and now his wife, Franky Monet (formerly known as Taya Valkyrie) has revealed where the name and the persona behind it came from. In an interview with Rick Ucchino of Sportskeeda Wrestling, Monet shared the origin story of “Johnny Drip Drip,” and described how it was born two years ago. “The origin story of ‘Johnny Drip Drip’ is about two years ago, we were all driving in a car, me, John, Tessa [Blanchard] and Kiera [Hogan] after a taping, to go and eat dinner at this 24-hour diner, something ridiculous in New York,” said Monet. “And we were playing Cardi B in the car, and we were all delusional from lack of sleep and all this kind of stuff and being super hungry. And John, I don’t know if anyone knows this, but John likes to rap. So he started rapping to Cardi B and then it was within that car ride that ‘Johnny Drip Drip was born.’ It just became a thing.” Monet then described how the WWE Universe met "Johnny Drip Drip" in the first music video Morrison and The Miz made for WWE programming last year, and has continued to roll with it. As for all of Morrison’s puns and his usage of the word “moist,” Monet joked that there’s a lot of “drip drip” talk behind the scenes, and she’s okay with it because Morrison is having a lot of fun. “Listen, sometimes there’s a lot of drip drip talk, okay, it’s a lot,” said Monet. “But he’s having the most fun I’ve seen him have in a long time. So I just kind of go okay, yeah.” While Monet is excited to show everyone “Franky Drip Drip” if/when she works with Morrison on-screen, she emphasized that she wants the fans to know who she is as an individual first and foremost. “I think that we have unconditional chemistry that can not be denied on-screen [and] in the ring,” said Monet. “But I want to make a point of having the WWE Universe learn who I am on my own as well. I’m being reintroduced to some fans who have never heard of me, and I just think it’s important that they get to know who I am on my own first. “So eventually, absolutely. I can’t wait for ‘Franky Drip Drip.’ But I’m also just really excited to find my way and have everyone know who I am and what I bring to the table on my own as well.”
Two champions from NXT were once again at main roster television tapings for the second week in a row and have participated in "WWE Main Event" tapings. NXT Champion Karrion Kross, along with Scarlett, and North American Champion Bronson Reed were being evaluated by the powers that be with a move to either the RAW or SmackDown roster looming. Kross, without Scarlett and without his usual entrance, took on Shelton Benjamin and Reed wrestled Drew Gulak during the "WWE Main Event" tapings which aired this past Thursday on the WWE Network. They were also at SmackDown last week and took part in dark matches. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer also reported that Scarlett will likely receive a tryout of her own this Friday before SmackDown.
Backstage at WWE's "Hell in a Cell" pay-per-view event was Ric Flair. The Nature Boy decided to spend Father's Day with his daughter Charlotte at the ThunderDome and Flair was looking sharp in a three-piece suit. Flair was also the subject of a two-hour season finale of "WWE Most Wanted Treasures" on Sunday night on A&E, a show which aired head-to-head with "Hell in a Cell".
The season finale of "WWE Most Wanted Treasures", which aired on Sunday head-to-head with "Hell in a Cell", did 491,000 viewers, up just 4,000 viewers from last week's show. This episode, featuring Ric Flair, did a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Nikita Koloff recently sat down for an interview with Wrestling Inc.’s Drew Rice. During the interview Koloff shared his thoughts on the current state of professional wrestling. “[There is a reason] why the product looks like it does today versus what many, many, many of the fans of the ‘80s and early ‘90s have told me is the golden age of wrestling,” noted Koloff. “And what they’ve done, because of writers, who write matches and write interviews, they set [up]… what wasn’t so much a decline as it was a transition in the business, from taking creative control from the wrestler. Where I had the ability to go in the ring and tell a story spontaneously in the ring, that if the fan wasn’t buying into it, I could change it up in a second in the ring and do something different. So, I learned that pretty quick.” Koloff elaborated on how the lack of independence for wrestlers has a drastic impact on their matches. Wrestling legend Gerald Brisco also recently shared similar sentiments when discussing the modern product. “Even when you watch fan reaction back then, that’s the difference of why the fans even reacted differently back then versus now. Because now [wrestling] is so exposed, right? Everybody knows the match is written out and they go in and perform it. And again, taking nothing away from their athletic ability, but if the fan is not buying into the match, you’re still gong through all the spots and the whole deal. Whether they’re buying into it or not. “And that’s the main difference why the product looks like it does today versus the product back then. I think, personally, it mainly has to do with no more ring psychology. That art has died.” Koloff went on to discuss how modern wrestlers are not taught enough about in-ring psychology as much as they are taught about physical wrestling ability. Koloff says in-ring psychology is not prioritized when learning how to wrestle in the present day. In the past Dustin Rhodes has also talked about how difficult it can be to learn in-ring psychology. “[Wrestlers] do get trained, but they get trained on the mechanics of wrestling,” explained Koloff. “And in many cases, at least back in the day, I don’t know about now, I’m not familiar with who all the writers are and all of that [are]. But back in the day many of [the wrestlers] had never wrestled a day in their life, so how would they know the psychology of wrestling? They never wrestled! “The guys today are athletic enough to go out and perform the mechanics, but all they have to do is follow the script. So, it has nothing to do with them not learning psychology. They are not given the opportunity, from what I can tell, to go out and utilize psychology in telling a story. They just go out and tell a story that has been written for them.”
