AEW commentator Jim Ross admitted that the closing segment of last week’s Dynamite with The Dark Order was not ideal, referring to it as an “amazing sin that can never be duplicated.” Ross did not hold back on his criticism of the angle which was universally panned by fans and critics. He said that over his career, he called some bad angles from every brand involving the biggest name in the business and he knew that the crowd did not like it because he was there in the arena for it. The WWE Hall of Famer also added that if he didn’t see the video of the masked wrestler very poorly executing punches on Dustin Rhodes, he wouldn’t have known “just how bad it was.” The clip, unfortunately for AEW, went viral for all the wrong reasons. “It was poorly executed, folks. And hopefully nothing like that will ever occur again,” Ross continued. “And I know everybody that has some ability to change things in AEW are well aware of it.”

Bloomberg is reporting that WWE was served with a lawsuit by an Oklahoma firefighters pension fund which claims that there is “a credible basis to believe” that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon and other WWE senior officials breached their duties to investors by diverting resources to the XFL. Vince McMahon’s XFL is promoted to be as a separate entity than WWE but in the past, WWE teams helped with several production and live broadcasts. Unlike last time around, the XFL does not fall under the WWE books and it’s a project that Vince McMahon funded by selling thousands of his WWE stocks. The lawsuit also suggests that WWE’s board members failed to conduct appropriate oversight to ensure McMahon didn’t engage in transactions that conflict with WWE’s interests. The lawsuit was filed on December 26 in Delaware Chancery Court.

As previously reported, Jim Cornette filed a lawsuit against indy wrestler Brandon “G-Raver” Graver over a "f*** Jim Cornette" t-shirt design. Cornette issued the following statement to WrestleZone.com: “My attorney Stephen P New gave these goofs the opportunity to pull down the shirts and remove the trademark application and we would all go our separate ways. Apparently Grover thinks some outlaw garbage wrestler can not only defy the law but ignore a nationally-known attorney. Now he knows he can’t, and he’s about to get a lesson in the real world. Any money we receive past expenses will be donated to charity, but our requests WILL be granted or Grover and his T-Shirt fellow will not only be begging fans for money to pay his medical bills, but also his legal bills as well. If this in some way removes one of these 'death match' wrestlers from exhibiting their ignorant 'matches' to the public we will consider it a happy bonus for the fans and the wrestling industry. Not only are these matches in general offensive to me, but the idea of this clown asking wrestling fans to pay for his own stupidity, AND trying to make money off my name and likeness at the same time, was too much to ignore, so we are bringing some disinfectant to this disease on wrestling.”

Killer Kross, the former Impact Wrestling star who was recently given his release from the company, applied to trademark his wrestling name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on December 24, 2019. Kross, real name Robert Kesar, filed for the trademark himself a week after he got free from Impact Wrestling, noting that the first use of his name was on May 13, 2014. The word mark was filed under entertainment services, namely wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer. The free agent has not signed with any promotion yet although many expect him to join his girlfriend Scarlett Bordeaux at the WWE Performance Center and NXT. Kross had been in hot water with Impact Wrestling ever since the Slammiversary pay-per-view in July where he refused to blade in his first blood match against Eddie Edwards due to Impact failing to provide a doctor, ambulance, and testing at the show. Impact ended up punishing him for it for five months and was left out of all television tapings that came after that show. He asked for his release in May of this year, something which obviously did not help matters either.

Former Impact champion John Morrison appeared on Smackdown yesterday, his first WWE televised appearance since 2011. Morrison signed a new multi-year deal with WWE and was expected to start imminently. His appearance came after Cathy Kelley went to the locker room of The Miz to ask some questions as to why he attacked Kofi Kingston. After Kelley knocked on the door, it was Morrison who opened the door and not The Miz. “The Miz doesn’t have anything to say tonight,” Morrison said, as he closed the door again. Morrison and The Miz formed a tag team in the WWE between 2007 and 2009 and they won the tag team titles twice. Interesting enough, the duo split in 2009 after Miz lost a match to Kofi Kingston after Morrison accidentally got Miz disqualified, giving Raw a draft pick. The pick was The Miz and Miz attacked Morrison, who was later drafted to Smackdown.
