-Started his career as a ringside photographer for Pro Wrestling Illustrated and other magazines.
-Was part of a talent trade between Jerry Jarrett and Bill Watts in 1983. Jarrett received Rick Rude, Jim Neidhart, Masao Ito, and Hacksaw Higgins. Watts received Cornette, Bobby Eaton, Dennis Condrey, The Rock-N-Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson), and Terry Taylor.
-Got the idea to carry a tennis racket after watching an '80s teen movie where one of the characters carried a badminton racket. He felt that wasn't intimidating enough, so he upgraded to a tennis racket. The first person he hit with the racket was Magnum T. A. and due to both men's inexperience, he busted open Magnum's chin by accident when doing it.
-Cornette's head was shaved in October 1984 as a result of Hercules Hernandez losing a hair-vs-hair match to Jim Duggan. Cornette would wear a mask while his hair regrew.
-During the "Night of the Skywalkers" Scaffold Match at Starrcade '86, Cornette fell from the scaffold and was supposed to be caught by Big Bubba Rogers, but Rogers' sunglasses were too dark, causing Rogers to be out of position. Cornette blew out both knees in that fall.
-When he left WCW, he sent Jim Herd a black wreath as a joke.
-The live sewer rat that Mankind appeared with in several of his pre-WWF vignettes belonged to Cornette.

Cornette started telling him off about insulting his friend Jim Ross with the "Oklahoma" gimmick. Cornette then spit in Ferrara's eye before the altercation was broken up backstage. Ferrara asked what was that for, and Jim Cornette said, "That it was for J. R.!"
