-Tagged with Jerry Vickers in his 1st professional wrestling match and lost to The Executioners by Countout in front of 28 fans in West Memphis, AR. According to him, he entered the match with no training. When he tagged into the match, he was grabbed and thrown out of the ring where he was knocked unconscious for approximately 5 minutes.
-Was given the idea of being the "King of Wrestling" by Bobby Shane
-Sued the WWF in the late 1980s when Harley Race was the "King of Wrestling" in the company at that time. Lawler claimed that he had used that moniker since 1973 and had a rightful claim to it. Lawler won the case and WWF could not have Harley use that title when they ran shows in Memphis. Vince McMahon would later tell Lawler that he gained respect for him for doing this.
-According to Lawler, there were talks of a "King vs. King" match at WrestleMania V against Harley Race, but that ended after Race left the company in 1989.
-Former co-owner of Continental Wrestling Association (with Jerry Jarrett) that eventually merged with World Class Championship Wrestling to become United States Wrestling Association.
-Former co-owner of Power Pro Wrestling and Memphis Championship Wrestling, both based in Memphis, TN
-Once dressed up as "The Super King" and confronted Batman (Adam West) on the Memphis Wrestling TV show.
-The woman in his life always seems to get involved in wrestling. His 2nd wife Paula, started as a TV interviewer but would accompany him to the ring for some matches. His 3rd wife, Stacy Carter, also started as a TV interviewer before she married Lawler and eventually became a WWF diva and Women's Champion. One of his former girlfriends Joni, is a former dancer on NWA-TNA broadcasts and also was his valet for independent shows.
-Quit the WWE in February 2001 when Carter was given her release. Returned to WWE in November of the same year after Carter had filed for divorce in July.
-His autobiography "It's Good to be King...Sometimes" was released in 2003
