Other Facts: -Real name was George Burrell Woodin. He was known as "Tim" to his friends.
-As Tim Woods, he was sometimes billed from East Lansing, MI
-Began wrestling collegiately at Oklahoma State University but lost his spot on the team to Adnan Al-Kaissie. He then transferred to Michigan State University.
-Was given the name "Mr. Wrestling" by Joe Dusek.
-Beginning in the 1970s, he would alternate between the masked Mr. Wrestling persona and his regular Tim Woods persona depending on the territory.
-Was involved in the same plane crash that broke Johnny Valentine & Ric Flair's back. At the hospital, Woodin gave them his real name (George Burrell Woodin), and told them that he was a promoter. Since Woodin wrestled under the name Tim Woods, a newspaper article in the Charlotte Observer listed his name as his real name, George Burrell Woodin, and mentioned that he was a promoter. Woodin was the only babyface wrestler on the plane, while the rest wrestled as heels, and this was back in the days when kayfabe was not broken (at the time, Woods was feuding with Flair and Valentine). Eventually, rumors began circulating that Woods was in fact on the plane. Unwilling to risk the exposure of professional wrestling, he got back in the ring two weeks after the crash and was obviously in extreme pain. Flair later said in his book "To Be the Man", that he was more than just 'Mr. Wrestling' that day, he was the man who saved wrestling. Woodin eventually returned to wrestling but retired shortly thereafter.
-Lost his middle finger in a fan challenge. Woods was involved in a challenge where if a fan could last a certain time in the ring with him, he would win a purse. The fan bit most of Woods’ middle finger off him.
-Wrestled his final match with Mr. Wrestling II against the Road Warriors in 1983.
-Had degrees in Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

-Accomplished photographer and saxaphone player.
-After retiring from wrestling, he ran a heating and air conditioning service.
-Inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2001
-Passed away November 30, 2002 from a heart attack at the age of 68. Before his death, he was scheduled to be interviewed for a WWE Confidential piece on the October 1975 plane crash.
-Posthumously inducted into the NWA Hall of Heroes in 2010 (as Mr. Wrestling)
