-Southwest Conference Champion in the Pole Vault while at the University of Texas. He finished 2nd in the NCAA Championship in 1927
-Placed 2nd to George Rule of Oklahoma A&M in the first ever NCAA Wrestling Championship in 1928. He had been undefeated in 1928 heading into the championship.
-Competed as a middleweight in Men's Freestyle Wrestling at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was the first Olympian from the University of Texas.
-Was the first person to promote wrestling in Galveston, TX after it was legalized
-Passed away on May 5, 1966
-Posthumously inducted into the University of Texas' Longhorn Hall of Honor in 1992
