-His son Dylan is a huge wrestling fan. He and his son attended numerous wrestling shows as fans all around the state of Oklahoma. He was sitting in the crowd at a BPPW show when ring announcer Maria La Rusa was injured. He was asked to fill in for the rest of the show. A few weeks later, BPPW commissioner C. M. Burnham was ring announcing a show and was attacked before the main event so Jerry filled in a second time. He was then officially named BPPW ring announcer.
