Their contract was supposed to be sold to Woman by Jim Cornette (who would have then retired from managing and joined the broadcast booth permanently). All this was approved by Jim Herd and the booking committee, but before it could be put into effect, Herd backtracked on the idea, which ultimately led to Lane and Cornette leaving WCW.
