A well-known Oklahoma figure spoke out, saying the system failed.
Most know Jim Ross as the WWE Hall of Famer or the sideline staple at every OU football game. Now, he's simply a grieving husband, upset and outspoken about his wife's death.
The crash happened in March 2017. Ross's wife Jan was riding her Vespa scooter.
"Mrs. Ross was thrown from that scooter and then the scooter actually slid underneath the other vehicle and they both caught on fire," said Sarah Jensen with Norman police.
Jan died from her injuries. Police said she was hit from behind by a 17-year-old driver.
According to Ross, a judge dismissed the case Thursday against the teenager.
Ross tweeted his outrage to his 1.6 million followers that the charges were dismissed.
Ross told KOCO 5 that he's too upset to go on camera. But he sent us pictures of himself and his wife of more than 20 years.
Ross also told us in a text message, “The system has failed us. Heartbreaking matters such as this make me wonder what our youth are being taught. It's time we need to pay attention. Sad. Embarrassing. Makes it hard to continue loving my beloved Oklahoma.”
KOCO 5 reached out to the Cleveland County judge. He said he cannot comment because it's a juvenile case.
