Revitalized Legion Wants To Ascend To Tag Team Superiority Again

Revitalized Legion Wants To Ascend To Tag Team Superiority Again

Posted: Jun 14th 2017 By: Michael Hunt

2017 has seen the return of one of the most unique and intimidating tag teams to BPPW.

At the beginning of 2017, Legion, in the form of Rob Cabella & Samedi, arrived in BPPW and were awarded the BPPW Oklahoma Tag Team Titles. Following on thier run as ComPro Tag Team Champions at the end of 2016, BPPW fans filled the Body Pro Gym in Sapulpa and Tulsa, chanting "We Are Legion!" in support of the popular duo

But personal injury would sideline the tag team after they lost the titles to Team Dean Machine. Both Samedi and Cabella would end up with wrist injuries which caused them to miss a couple of months' worth of action. Fans did not forget, though. And the anticipation for Legion's return grew with each passing week.

Approximately one month ago, Cabella returned to in-ring action, but Samedi, though cleared to be present at ringside, was still suffering from lingering effects of the wrist injury and assumed a managerial role. This meant recruitment was necessary for them to re-enter the tag team division and that happened when they forced Shawn Shields to drink the blood from the cup, turning the "Knight of the North" into the "Blood Knight" and kicking off a new dynamic in Legion's existance.

Cabella & Shields, now reinvigorated, set their eyes on the BPPW Oklahoma Tag Team Titles and this past Friday, they were one of 5 teams entered into an Eimination Match to determine the #1 contenders to the BPPW Oklahoma Tag Team Titles. Legion made their mark first in the match by eliminating the make-shift team of Jeremy Pryger & Samuel Savage, who could not get along to begin with. The match then progressed and the newly formed Bachelor Party, made up of Brandon Groom & Jonah Turk, made the next elimination, pinning El Greengo Loco. That eliminated the only other former Oklahoma Tag Team Champions as Loco and his partner Karnage found themselves on the way back to the showers.

The relatively new team of Space Age, comprised of Aeronaut & Paul Puertorico, put an early end to the Bachelor Party and then the match turned up. Puertorico and Cabella matched each other with many high-risk aerial moves, but it was Shawn Shields who made the decisive play, hitting a sit-out powerbomb on Puertorico for the win and crowning Legion as the #1 contenders to the belts currently held by The Rising.

Legion had hoped to capitalise quickly on their status and arrived at the Body Pro Gym in Tulsa looking forward to a title match. But the absence of Matt Durden forced Legion to delay their satisfaction. Instead, they satisfied their desire for creepiness by interrupting Andre Williams as he was in the midst of a rambling promo against BPPW Co-Commissioner C. M. Burnham. As Williams was ranting and raving, Legion arrived and Williams found himself stranding in the ring, surrounded by three people he had no desire to be anywhere near. Williams quickly bailed and Legion then awaited the arrival of their actual opponents, El Greengo Loco & Karnage. While their victory in the 5-Way Elimination Tag Team Match officially set them as #1 contenders to the titles, Legion never got the chance to face off against the only other former Tag Team Champions in the match. So this 2-on-2 match would serve to make sure there was no question who the top contenders were. And sure enough, Legion was once again triumphant after a short but decisive match.

Legion now awaits this coming Friday night and hopes that they get their opportunity at The Rising, but given the controversy in the title change between The Rising and Team Dean Machine, it's possible that Co-Commissioner Burnham may have to make other plans and Legion may have to continue to wait.

And Legion will be fine with that. Lurking in the shadows. Biding their time.

Waiting.

Hoping.

Hungry.
