The Scoop

NEWS
Vader has posted the following message on Twitter, announcing his retirement from professional wrestling: "With Great Sorrow I leave my first born my greatest love of All for a chance to exist in the same plain of existence of my Gr Ch yet to exist".

On his podcast “Dinner With The King”, Jerry Lawler weighed in on the “Bayley: This Is Your Life” segment on last Monday's RAW. He said "Sometimes things happen that just don’t turn out like you envision it. I’m sure that’s exactly what happened there. Here’s the other thing: it’s live T.V. That’s a double-edged sword, believe me. When something doesn’t turn out the way you planned it, there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s there. It was live and everybody saw it. That was just one of those cases. You just gotta move on. Booker T flat out stated that “this is hard to watch.” the line likely came straight from the top.. I’m not sure, because I wasn’t there. But either way, that was the right thing to say. It was probably conveying the thoughts of everybody watching it.”

A. J. Styles recently commented on the locker room atmosphere when he first signed with WWE. He said “So I’ve been with WWE for about a year and a half already. I’ll be honest I was scared when I first signed because for over a decade I was always a rival to the company, whether I was in TNA, New Japan, or Ring of Honor. I was totally wrong. The locker room welcomed me pretty quickly, some of the people I’ve worked with and others would tell me that they’ve been a fan of me for years. Samoa Joe & Charlotte were the first two people to really make me feel at home. Joe because we’ve worked together for years and have been friends and Charlotte who I’ve also known for years and getting to work with her Dad, Ric Flair. People might say I’m a bandwagon because I work for them now, but WWE is honestly the best place I’ve ever worked for and that’s saying a lot considering I’ve worked with amazing staff and talent for ten plus years.”

Did anyone notice something strange about the main event on "WWE SmackDown Live" this past week? Of course it's strange every time WWE decides to give momentum to Dolph Ziggler anytime, especially with WWE’s track record of only building him up to be beaten down in the end, but no one really would have guessed that he would have beaten A. J. Styles in a one on one match last week in SmackDown’s main event. What makes the win even more suspicious is the fact that Styles was in his hometown of Atlanta, GA for the match with Ziggler, which one would think WWE would use as an opportunity to build him up for the "Money In The Bank" Ladder Match, but they for some reason choose not to do so. Unfortunately for Ziggler, it is being reported by The Wrestling Observer that, “Styles and Ziggler may have messed up the finish of the match because it wasn’t meant to end in a clean win for Ziggler. It was meant to end with Ziggler getting the three count, but Styles' foot would have been on the bottom rope. The final pin happened very close to the ropes, which is an indication that the planned finish would have had Styles' foot on the bottom rope, but Ziggler may have rolled him up too hard for the final pin. It’s being said that no one backstage is overly upset about their botched finish. With that being said, and the warning that WWE intends to right the wrong by having Ziggler and Styles trade wins leading up to the upcoming pay per view, it's a pretty safe bet that this was an only an accident and Ziggler fans would probably be getting their hopes up by thinking anything substantial will come from this incident.

The Rock tweeted the following to A. J. Styles today as he films a movie in Georgia. Rock did get the happy birthday wishes in late as Styles turned 40 on Friday. He tweeted "@AJStylesOrg hometown has been "phenomenal" brotha. Shooting some epic scenes. Be safe on the road, keep killing and happy birthday".

Natural bodybuilder Nick Miller says Jinder Mahal’s physique is suspicious citing “extreme vascularity” and going from a “dad bod” to ripped overnight. He even cites WWE’s own Wellness Policy as having reason to be take a hard look, “Reasonable Suspicion. WWE may require WWE Talent to submit to a test or tests, including, without limitation, urine, blood, saliva, hair, and/or breath tests, if there exists reasonable suspicion that a WWE Talent has violated any part of this Policy or has diminished ability to perform as a result of using any prohibited substance.”

WWE taped a "Table for 3" with Ric Flair, Bruno Sammartino and Bob Orton Jr. that will be airing after RAW tonight (June 5th).

WWE NXT Women’s Champion Asuka has been added to the WWE RAW live events from Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan on June 30th and July 1st. She is replacing Mickie James and is scheduled to be teaming with Sasha Banks and Bayley to face Emma, Nia Jax, and RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss.

PWInsider.com is reporting that 22 Impact Wrestling stars are currently in India to participate in the television tapings which are set to take place next week at the Reliance MediaWorks Studios in Mumbai. The talent who will be appearing in the four weeks worth of television tapings are Alberto El Patron, Allie, Bobby Lashley, Braxton Sutter, Chris Adonis, Davey Richards, Ethan Carter III, Eddie Edwards, Eli Drake, James Storm, KM, Laurel Van Ness, Low Ki, Mahabali Shera, Moose, Rockstar Spud, Rosemary, Swoggle, Suicide, Sienna, and Trevor Lee. Joining them on the trip are Bruce Prichard, Jeff Jarrett, Jeremy Borash, and Josh Mathews. This is an important trip for the company and one of their major partners, Sony Six. The tour was part of a contractual obligation which was supposed to take place last year but then rescheduled due to financial difficulties.

Jeff Jarrett recently explained where the term "Slapnutz" came from. He said “Oh Slapnutz? That is a Jeff Jarrett legendary term that, to this day, continues to garner quite a bit of interest. Whether it’s Beetlejuice or Mae Young and Moolah, they’ve all been smacked on the head with a guitar and called a Slapnut. I remember in the early days of Slapnutz, we were in Detroit, Michigan and I was working for WCW where I was pulled into a small room, and Standards and Practices looked at me and said, ‘Jeff, we want you to explain something to us. We really want to know what’s going on, because we have been called from the North Tower of the Turner Organization and asked what actually is a Slapnut, We feel this needs to be censored.’ So, Slapnutz was derived from my grandmother Christine Jarrett and she used to call people slappy. A slappy was someone who slapped their gums together. She would say, they know more and more about less and less every day. Let that sink in. So you put that in 1999 language and you turn it into a slapnut, with a Z. It sort of just took off, sold a lot of t-shirts, had a lot of fun. It’s funny. Here we are in 2017, in Mumbai, India and you’re asking me about Slapnutz. You’re the crazy one.”

The deal for Billy Corgan to purchase the National Wrestling Alliance is “in jeopardy” according to multiple sources due to issues surrounding the transfer of the promotion’s existing copyrights and trademarks. According to sources, the copyright and trademarks on the brand name lapsed last year. Bruce Tharpe’s International Wrestling Corp, LLC, which bought the NWA in 2012, re-applied for the trademarks on March 30th. The application has yet to be officially approved, meaning that it isn’t possible for them to be transferred to Corgan. Corgan has been in the process of buying the company from Tharpe including the name, rights and trademarks along with as the NWA Championship Title, Tharpe’s stake in the NWA on Demand VOD service, and licensing of the Paul Boesch wrestling library. If the deal somehow does not go through, the future of the NWA is unknown although Tharpe would very possible continue the On Demand service as well as licensing the NWA brand name out to indy promoters. Corgan and Dave Lagana have been seeking to establish relationships with promotions which have licensed the NWA name.

World League Wrestling announced last week that New Japan Pro Wrestling will be represented at the annual Harley Race Wrestling Camp. The camp will be August 28th through September 1st and the cost is $500. To sign up, go to HarleyRace.com/TrainingCamp.html.

Harley Race sustained a fractured femur and breaks in his fibula and tibia in his right leg and a spiral break of his left ankle in a fall on Tuesday at his home. He required emergency surgery to relieve swelling in both legs. He received 4 blood transfusions and underwent surgery on Friday to reset the fractures. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan extends condolences to Shawn Matthews III, who's mother passed away on Saturday.

Oklafan extends condolences to Lanny Poffo, who's mother Judith passed away last week.
