JR's Blog: Rey Mysterio to Ross Report! @CACReunion, @MikeTheMiz, Strowman Continues to Evolve, RINGSIDE Returns to DC Improv

Posted: Apr 26th 2017 By: Jim Ross

Greetings one and all and thanks for paying our site a visit. Let's roll....

A new, Ross Report podcast drops tonight with my special guest @ReyMysterio who talks a length about training his young son to be a pro wrestler, Rey's still active career, his tenure in Mexico and in WWE plus Rey's thoughts on today's product. This convo is a wide ranging, honest interview from one of the great stars of any generation.

A new, Ross Report drops every Tuesday night at 9 PM ET on www.podcastone.com, iTunes and here on the homepage of our site.

We will be returning to the DC Improv on Thursday August 10 for our RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Show and tickets go on sale on Tuesday May 2 at 10 am at www.dcimprov.com. The last time we played DC at the Improv we sold out and are hopeful of doing the same this go around, I hope that you can join us.

For our Zanies Rosemont show on Sunday May 21 at 2 pm before WWE Backlash we are sold out of VIP tickets but have some general admission tickets remaining at www.ticketfly.com. Jeremy Borash will be our MC for the Rosemont show and we look forward to seeing many of you as well.

Will be watching the @NFL Draft this weekend as it's one of my favorite tv sports presentations of the year. Especially curious to see where my Oklahoma Sooners land.

For our upcoming autobiography "SlobberKnocker: My Life in Wrestling" I am elated that we will have contributions from Vince McMahon, Steve Austin, The Rock and Mark Cuban. The cover is out there and you can check it out elsewhere here on the site. Our labor of love will be in stores in October but it can be preordered via amazon.com.

RAW Thoughs:

Enjoyed the 'three hour cruise' from Kansas City as many evolving talents continue to strive to 'get over' while improving their in ring skill sets.

Still thinking that Miz and Maryse will have breakout years in @WWE in 2017. As @MikeTheMiz gets more aggressive offensively and his lovely and talented wife continues to evolve her 'valet' skill set this is a combo that will be headlining major events for RAW in 2017, IMO.

On RAW, I was thinking that if the handicap bout continued with Jericho and Ambrose vs Miz that Miz could have easily turned fan favorite if it had continued the way it was going. Just my two cents.

Chris Jericho is a treasure who has refined all the in ring skills that one needs to be relevant over the decades as he 's brave enough to change and never be stuck in his own, personal comfort zone. Others should take notice and do the same.

Why does Dean Ambrose, at times, remind me of the great, Terry Funk. High Praise...

WWE doing a nice job of 'reinventing' the Hardy's. Happy for Matt and Jeff to be 'home.'

It feels good for all of us that can complete those professional journeys.

Neville is THE GUY for WWE to build their Cruiserweight Division. Love his game. Neville vs Austin Aries is going to be a match of the night type attraction this Sunday.

In time, hopefully the fan base will embrace these 205 pounders once they invest emotionally in these talent's personas.

Enjoyed the presentation of the Dumpster Match and am all in on how WWE is promoting Braun Strowman who has an unlimited upside. Keeping Strowman a villain is going to be dicey as he's just about every thing a defiant, young male might want to live vicariously through.

Hats off to Kalisto too for his efforts in this 'mismatch.'

Intrigued and interested by how WWE booked Bray Wyatt to close RAW Monday night. I'm a Bray fan and vividly recall the multiple conversations that I had with the late Dusty Rhodes about Blackjack Mulligan's grandson. I may be off target her but I can easily see Bray Wyatt being a viable, main event level fan favorite in time as fans seem to love to participate in his overall presentation, specifically his entrance.

Is Bray Wyatt being subtlety portioned to replace the Undertaker as it relates to a fan favorite who espouses 'unique powers?'

Those are big shoes to fill but if Wyatt can continue to advance his game and make the persona his own then there is a chance that it will be successful. I like this direction if that's what it turns out to be.

Some may think I'm crazy, and they might be somewhat correct, but I successfully had a Pittsburgh Steelers urn made for my wife Jan's ashes and it is prominently placed on our mantle. I know that she would have loved it because she adored her @steelers.

I still am challenged to accept that Jan is gone.

Waiting on word from AXSTV regarding the big, July 1-2 weekend in Long Beach, California for the two back to back days of NJPW events and if they will be televised live on @AXSTV. In my own perfect world, AXSTV and NJPW would broadcast both days live and cover them as a 'sporting event' ala the original, Clash of the Champions series back in the early days of the brand. I hope to know how this weekend will transpire and look forward to calling the action with @JoshLBarnett in any form that it takes place.

You're invited to follow me on Twitter @JRsBBQ.

Heading to Vegas next week for the CAC Reunion at the Gold Coast hotel. I'll be there Tuesday and Wednesday and look forward to seeing many old friends and making new ones. @WWE is sending multiple representatives and I'm elated that WWE is supporting the CAC. Looking forward to doing a seminar on promos with AJ Kirsch. I'll be AJ's 'sidekick.'
