NEWS
Oklahoma City will be the site of the 2017 Gathering of the Juggalos, July 26 to July 29 at Lost Lakes Amphitheater. No word on whether Juggalo Championship Wrestling will be having a show. Traditionally, there are multiple shows with several stars like Terry Funk, Mick Foley, and Tracy Smothers, among others being booked in the past.

WWE had their annual "Superstar Shakeup" with some stars switching from RAW to SmackDown and vice versa. Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose, The Miz & Maryse, Curt Hawkins, Bray Wyatt, Kalisto, Heath Slater & Rhyno, Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, and announcer David Otunga have moved from SmackDown to RAW while United States Champion Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, The Shining Stars (Epico & Primo), Jinder Mahal, Apollo Crews, Tamina, Charlotte Flair, Sin Cara, Rusev & Lana, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods), and announcer Byron Saxton moved from SmackDown to RAW.

Mickie James tweeted the following on returning to RAW in the “Superstar Shakeup” on Monday night’s show, "And just like that I'm back... where it all began... @WWE things just got real interesting! #SuperstarShakeUp #TheyAintReady #RealOG #RAW".

PWInsider.com is reporting that Finn Balor suffered a concussion on RAW after he was on the receiving end of a vicious right elbow to the head by Jinder Mahal. Balor looked to be completely knocked unconscious when he got hit as he fell on the floor face first without protecting himself. Balor eventually recovered and finished the match, winning with his finishing move. The former WWE Universal Champion just made his return after 8 months out on the sidelines and Balor will probably not be cleared to wrestle until he passes the multiple tests needed following a concussion. The slow-mo replay shows how bad the hit was which you can see by clicking here.

A. J. Styles defeated Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn on Thursday’s “Superstar Shakeup” edition of SmackDown to become the new #1 contender to the WWE United States Title. Styles has earned a future title shot against the winner of Chris Jericho vs. current champion Kevin Owens at the April 30th WWE Payback pay-per-view. In a recent video, Styles commented on the Triple Threat and says people better have working boots on when they come to SmackDown. Regarding the United States Title, Styles says it’s about time the belt home where it belongs.

A. J. Styles tweeted the following after becoming the new #1 contender to the WWE United States Title on Thursday night’s SmackDown, "Thanks for bringing the #USTitle to #SDLive Kevin...I look forward to taking it from you. #Phenomenal #SDLive".

WWE has a new poll asking fans which new SmackDown Superstar will make the biggest impact – WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens, Charlotte Flair, The New Day, Sami Zayn, Rusev, Lana, The Shining Stars, Tamina Snuka, Jinder Mahal or Sin Cara. As of this writing, 33% went with Owens while 25% voted for Charlotte, 21% for Sami, 8% for The New Day, 4% for Rusev and 3% for Cara. The rest received 2% or less. The Shining Stars currently have 0% of the vote.

For fans of old Mid South Wrestling, the WWE Network has added more new shows this week and now every show from December 1981 through January 1983 is up, in order, so it actually can be watched as is. That was some of the best episodic television of its era, or really, any era. That would be the Junkyard Dog heyday but before the real boom in 1984.

While talking to Sports Illustrated's "Extra Mustard", Ric Flair said wrestling gets more respect now. He said "This is the respect the guys are due, and I’ve always seen us in that light. There’s nothing more athletic in any sport than the wrestlers. The fact that some of it is choreographed shouldn’t reflect on the abilities, skills, and work ethics that go into. I think it’s great for both brands."

All Pro Wrestling announced last week that Pat Patterson will be the special guest show at the Cow Palace in Daly City, CA on May 6th,. Patterson created the Royal Rumble and also won the final Roy Shire Cow Palace Battle Royal in the building in 1981. He was the area's biggest star from 1972-77 and one of the three or four biggest stars in the history of Northern California territorial wrestling.

James Laurinaitis, son of Road Warrior Animal, has retired from professional football. There is a story on ESPN about his retirement that you can read by clicking here. Now, that automatically starts the speculation if pro wrestling can be far off.

Kari Williams of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story entitled "Mike McGuirk was 'a woman in a men’s tuxedos'" which you can read by clicking here.
