Paul Orndorff to Receive a Men?s Wrestling Award

Paul Orndorff carved out a great legacy during his time in professional wrestling as one of the real tough guys in this business. He was a college football star that made the transition to professional wrestling, starting in the Mid-South territory in the mid-1970?s where he battled legends such as Jerry Lawler and Ernie Ladd. From there he rocketed through the industry, spending considerable time in the NWA, WWF, and WCW, building a career that earned him induction into multiple Hall of Fames. Orndorff?s physique was extremely impressive ? more than justifying his name ?Mr. Wonderful? ? and his piledriver was one of the most devastating finishing holds of all time! His rivalry with then-WWF champion Hulk Hogan holds up to this day, highlighted by their title match at the ?Big Event? in Toronto (which drew over 70,000 fans!) and one of the best steel cage matches of all time. Orndorff can always be proud of being a featured competitor at the very 1st WrestleMania when he tagged with ?Rowdy? Roddy Piper against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.
A serious arm injury altered Orndorff?s career but he remained an active wrestler well into the 1990?s. Upon retirement he became one of the best trainers in the industry. In 2005 he was enshrined into the WWE Hall of Fame, and in 2009 he received similar honors from the NWA Hall of Fame and the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. The legacy of ?Mr. Wonderful? Paul Orndorff is secure within wrestling history and the CAC is proud to recognize him with an award at the 2016 CAC Reunion!
