Ray Of Light!

Ray Of Light!

There are some things you can always count on in pro wrestling:

A wedding will never happen without something going wrong.

Referees are amazingly blind and deaf, yet still manage to be hired to do the job.

And Ray Martinez will be booed out of the building no matter were he goes.

Well, now one of those things is no longer true. This past Saturday saw perhaps the most shocking moment in recent SRPW history as Ray Martinez came to the aid of Brian Breaker and UWE United States Champion Clint Cassidy.

Breaker and Cassidy were the opponents of the 3rd Dimension of Wrestling in the main event, represented by SRPW Champion Riker and WFC Tag Team Champion Aaron Anders. While it had been a couple of months since Anders had competed in SRPW, the influence of Riker allowed the former SRPW Ta Team Champions to claim the main event spot. And their chemistry as a tag team showed no rust as they were able to isolate first Breaker and then Cassidy during the course of the match. As Breaker and Cassidy appeared to finally be getting the match back in their favour, Breaker accidentally dropkicked referee Nick Cinn, rendering him unconscious. This allowed Ethan Cole to come out and make it a 3-on-2 match, but despite that, Breaker was still able to put Riker down. Unfortunately there was no referee to count the pin. All 3 members of the 3rd Dimension then it a Triple Power Bomb on Breaker and a new referee finally made it to ringside. But the delay was enough to allow Breaker to muster up the energy to kick out at 2. Breaker would then rally, eliminating Anders and hitting the Pumphandle Slam on the SRPW Champion for the victory.

The loss seemed to provoke additional rage in Riker and the members of the 3rd Dimension tied Breaker up in the ropes and looked to be about to hit him with the championship belt when Ray Martinez arrived from the back. The crowd sensed that the odds were about to get even worse for the fan favourites as Ray begged Riker to allow him the first shot. And Ray was ranted that first shot...which went right across the back of the champion! Ray Martinez then proceeded to clean house and liberate Breaker and Cassidy from their predicament. And a stunned audience came to their feet to cheer a man who they had vilified for so many years.

No explanation for the action of Martinez was provided and with the weather forcing the cancellation of the SRPW event on May 29th, it appears fans will have to wait until June 6 to find out what caused this sudden shift in attitude from The XXX-ican.
