Three people, including a former Tulsa County sheriff?s deputy, were arrested in connection with Tuesday?s fatal shooting of a man at an east Tulsa motel.
Warren Crittenden, 44, of Stroud, and Pamela Taylor, 27, were arrested by Tulsa police on first-degree murder complaints late Tuesday.
Kendrick Logan, 27, was arrested at an apartment at 5500 E. 47th Place around 4 p.m. Wednesday, homicide Sgt. Dave Walker said in a release.
Crittenden was a sheriff?s deputy from Sept. 1, 1995, to Jan. 20, 2011, records show. He filed a lawsuit against the Sheriff?s Office in 2011 alleging age discrimination and violations of the Americans with Disability Act and Workers? Compensation Act.
Michael Jones, 33, was found shot to death about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday inside the Super 8 Motel near 31st Street and Memorial Drive, Walker said.
Jones answered a knock on the door, and four men wearing hoodies, including Crittenden, rushed into the room demanding money and shot him during a struggle, Walker said.
The four men fled on foot from the motel, located at 3211 S. 79th East Ave, police said. Taylor, who is listed in jail records as being a transient, was in the room when the shooting occurred, police said. She was not harmed.
Video surveillance images show that the suspects arrived at the motel in two separate vehicles, which were later recovered.
?The information from the investigation and the surveillance video led to Tulsa police looking for Logan,? Walker said.
Investigators said they determined Jones met Taylor at a casino and took her back to the motel, and that Taylor called Crittenden and three other men to confront him after they got into an altercation. An arrest report indicates that Crittenden denied being the gunman but claimed that he was forced to participate in the homicide while being held at gunpoint.
Crittenden also reportedly told police that he dropped off one of the assailants at an area apartment complex in his 2006 Ford F-150 before later getting into a traffic accident in the 1100 block of South Mingo Road, according to the report.
Crittenden, however, said he didn?t know the identities of the other men or their whereabouts. Walker said Wednesday that Jerome Hardaway, 28, is a person of interest in the homicide and that police are working to identify the final suspect, who may be the person wearing pajama pants in a still photo taken from Super 8?s surveillance footage.
Jones? death is the second homicide at the Super 8 motel in less than a week.
On Jan. 21, Gerald Hail, 70, of Inola, was found dead at the motel. He had been reported missing that morning by family members who had not seen him for more than a day.
Police found Hail slumped against the door inside his motel room after he was located via his cellphone signal. Matthew Prince Hannah, 26, was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in connection with Hail?s death.
