Jim Ross denies signing deal for New Japan/GFW PPV

Jim Ross denies signing deal for New Japan/GFW PPV

Posted: Oct 25th 2014 By: Steve Gerweck - Gerweck.net

Addressing the several Internet rumors about returning to wrestling commentary, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross denied all of them, especially the one where he allegedly signed to do play-by-play for the January 4 event promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling and Global Force Wrestling pay-per-view from Tokyo.

?Let me make this perfectly clear. I have no deal. I have not personally spoken to Jeff Jarrett since he left WWE with me holding the bag on a blotched contract matter that I should have handled batter. Lesson learned for me,? Ross wrote. The contract matter he is referring to is the one from October 1999, where Jarrett?s contract expired the day before the No Mercy pay-per-view, an oversight blamed on Ross and his office as he was heading up the talent department at the time. Jarrett, the company?s Intercontinental champion at the time, did
wrestle at the pay-per-view, losing to Chyna and rumors are that Jarrett received a $300,000 payout for the job before heading south to WCW.

?So, here?s the bottom line, if we do work out something and it?s going to take a helluva deal for me to miss my birthday, a weekend in Vegas with my wife and the UFC on January 3 to see @RondaRousey fight to travel to Tokyo to do pro wrestling with a new partner, a new crew and a new talent roster. IF we are able to make a deal, then the publicity seeking ?source? can brag that he was right all along.? JR?s blog can be found at jrsbarbq.com.
