Barbi Hayden to defend the NWA World Women's Championship in Cypress

Barbi Hayden to defend the NWA World Women's Championship in Cypress

Posted: Oct 25th 2014 By: Phillip Barnard - Examiner.com

NWA Houston is back at the Cypress VFW this Saturday night, and three huge championship matches are scheduled. Highlighting the night will be the NWA World Women's Championship.

Barbi Hayden has enjoyed a dominating run as NWA World Women's Champion. She has survived the challenges of multiple ladies, including the likes of Kat Greene, Peyton Gates, and even former champion Kacee Carlisle. Tomorrow night, she defends the gold against Delilah Doom. Fans in Cypress aren't familiar with the challenger, but are sure to get introduced in a big way. As usual, Hayden is up to the challenge and is proud to stand as the current World Women's Champion. But she'll need to be on her game here if she wants to escape the night with the title still around her waist.

One of the biggest developing stories at NWA Houston over the last few months has been the change of former fan favorite Hambone. Now under the direction of Prince Kanu, Hambone has turned into a vile problem for his longtime friend Chaz Taylor. This has led to several confrontations between the two former friends recently, and tomorrow night will look to settle the score. Kanu and Hambone will team up to face Chaz and Luther Black. Chaz has recruited Black to help him in his war against Kanu and his evil ways. But will it be enough to walk away with the win, or will Hambone and the Prince emerge victorious?

And on the 61st day, there was The Empire. Back in August, Tony Brooklyn suspended members of The Empire for their blatant disregard for rules and regulations. The list of those suspended included the NWA Lone Star Tag Team Champions Matt Riviera and Greg Anthony. While the duo protested the suspension, their demands fell on deaf ears and they were forced to serve their time on the sideline. The final day of their suspension will have passed by the time Saturday night rolls around, and they will defend their gold against a very tough team of Rudy Russo and David Duperon. Riviera had made several claims against Russo prior to his suspension, many of which aren't even appropriate for republishing here. But he will have his chance to back up his words as Russo and Duperon are dead set on dethroning the champions and leaving Cypress with the gold.

And finally, speaking of The Empire, Steve Anthony has a big challenge ahead of him tomorrow night. He puts the NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Championship on the line against "The Texas Lion" Houston Carson. This is a huge opportunity for Carson to get back on top of the mountain at NWA Houston, and dethroning Anthony would not only bring the gold back around his waist, but end the reign of terror held by Anthony and the rest of his Empire goons. Carson knows how big this chance is, and knows to be on his guard in case the champion brings the rest of the group to the ring with him. Can Anthony continue his reign as champion, or can Carson pull off the impossible and regain the gold?

Also set to appear on Saturday night include "Notorious" Shane Taylor, the return of Ricky Starks, and the debut of Li Fang. Tickets will be available at the door for various prices. A very select few VIP tickets will be available at the door, for $15. A VIP ticket will get you guaranteed front row seat to some of best wrestling in the state of Texas. General admission tickets will also be available with prices set at $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12. Bell time is set for 7:30 P.M., so make sure to get there early for the best possible seat. NWA Houston events have often sold out and have been standing room only.

The Cypress VFW is located at 21902 Northwest Freeway (Highway 290) between Huffmeister and Telge. Make sure to check out the official NWA Houston page for breaking updates and news. You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter as well.
