Grappling great man-mountain OX BAKER who battled KURT RUSSELL in ?Escape from New York? has died at 80.
In his prime Baker tussled with all the ?rassling greats ? Hulk Hogan, Randy ?Macho ?Man? Savage, Rowdy Roddy Piper.
After hanging up the trunks, the big lug turned to thesping like some many others.
His role as ?Slag? the behemoth who nearly pummeled Snake Plissken (Russell) to death in John Carpenter?s 1981 classic ?Escape from New York? earned him a new generation of fans.
The WWE issued a statement: ?WWE is saddened to learn that Ox Baker, a feared villain of the ring for more than three decades, passed away Monday morning at age 80.
A 6-foot-5 behemoth from Waterloo, Iowa, Baker originally competed in WWWF in the late 1960s and became one of the most intimidating forces known inside the squared circle ? both due to his unique look and devastating heart punch. WWE extends its condolences to Baker?s colleagues, friends and family.?
Baker also appeared in HK superstar Jackie Chan?s first English language film ?The Big Brawl? and even guested as a contestant on ?The Price is Right?.
Adios, amigo.
