Bash Brothers Unable To Rise To Challenge For Tag Team Titles

Posted: Sep 19th 2014 By: CMBurnham

Tag team competition seems to be on the rise in SRPW as the recent feud over the SRPW Tag Team Titles between the Bash Brothers and The Rising appears to have no end in sight.

Both teams burst onto the scene earlier this year and have quickly ascended to the top of the tag team division. The Rising ended the nearly 6-month long reign of Psycho Sawyer & Diamond as SRPW Tag Team Champions and, thanks to their association with Jameson Thadeous Doggins III, seemed destined to be tag team champions for quite a while.

But underestimating rookie competition as been the downfall of many a great manager and the fan favourite Bash Brothers took only 2 months to unseat Justin Riker and Abel and claim the SRPW Tag Team Titles. The issues that already existed between the two teams now had the prestige of being the best tag team in the company on the line. And an opportunity to show their abilities in a new venue seemed to encourage both teams to up their game just a little more.

SRPW invaded the Allen-Bowden school gym and the tag team titles were on the line between the Rising and the Bash Brothers. Already, JTDIII had alienated the crowd when he interrupted an attempt to locate the missing mother of a girl. Doggins showed no remorse and simply wanted to get on with the tag team title match. Trey Cole and Ethan Cole then it the arena and the place exploded as the champions obviously had come prepared to fight. It was a display of high-flying tactics from the Bash Brothers and double-team shenanigans from the Rising. There was no tactic Riker and Abel would not employ, but everything they tried, the Coles countered. It seemed that the champions were on their way to retaining the titles and JTDIII sensed that, so he went and grabbed a chair to bring into the ring. Referee Mark Viper intercepted it and a struggle ensued. That allowed Abel to go out and grab another chair away from a young fan (after a bit of a struggle) and hit the legal Cole brother with it. Knocked out, Abel rolled is opponent over and Viper counted to 3. After only 20 days, the Rising had regained the tag team titles.

But they were not done yet.

Displaying a vicious side not seen before, Riker and Abel unloaded chair shot after chair shot on the fallen Bash Brothers. Riker became disturbingly violent, even to the point where his partner stopped and looked on in awe as Riker unleashed more and more chair shots to the fallen former champions. Finally, commissioner Bobby Burns got in the ring and drove Riker out. Outraged at the actions taken by the new tag team champions, Burns announced that on September 13, the rematch for the tag team titles would be held and this time, there would be no DQ and no rules!!

That match never came to pass, though, Instead, a 6-man tag team match saw The Bash Brothers and Psycho Sawyer defeat SRPW Champion Cody Burns, Abel and a reluctant JTDIII. Now, with the recent announcement of 5 SRPW events for the Tulsa State Fair, it seems that the struggle for tag team glory could reach an entirely new audience. And perhaps new tag team champions will be crowned at one of those events.
