Its Not Bragging If You Can Back It Up

Its Not Bragging If You Can Back It Up

Every so often a new talent will burst on the Oklahoma wrestling scene who immediately captures the attention of the people. Someone who will put together an impressive win/loss record. Someone who the fans know is special.

But when that person also expresses a disdain for many things that the fans hold sacred, it is a sure sign that there will not be a lot of cheers from the crowd during the matches for that performer.

Dalton Bragg does not care. The self-professed Arrogant Atheist has made it clear since his arrival in MSWA that he is here to win and he is here to prove that all the beliefs of the fans are immaterial. So far, it as been a successful strategy for him as he is undefeated.

The first impression Bragg made was on then-MSWA ring announcer C. M. Burnham as Bragg arrived unannounced to the ring on June 29th and immediately issued an open challenge, saying that if God existed, he would provide Bragg an opponent. No one came from the back to answer that challenge, so Dalton declared that his point was proven: There is no God and all the beliefs of the fans are as nothing.

MSWA owner Bad Boy then came out and, in an amusing moment, said that it appeared that Johnny Z had gotten smaller (a comment reflecting the similarity in appearance between Z and Bragg). He then said that he did not know how Bragg had come to believe that he was booked on the show, but if he wanted competition, it would be provided at the next event. That competition came in the form of former SRPW Champion Kid Krazy. It was a hard fought battle that saw Krazy come close to victory on several occasions, but a missed dive in the corner allowed Bragg to roll Krazy up and put his feet on the ropes to gain his first win.

A rematch was supposed to happen the following show, but Krazy was unable to be there and that allowed Bragg to be even more obnoxious than usual. A surprise attack by another newcomer known only as SinneR briefly caught Bragg by surprise, but Bragg quickly recovered and scored a victory over the masked competitor who has not been seen since.

August 10th saw the competition level take another step up as Bragg took on SWCW Champion Chaz Sharpe. But again, the result was the same as a roll-up and a pull of the tights seems to be the go-to move for Bragg whenever he feels outclassed and on the verge of losing. Sharpe did not take well to this and Bragg received a Stunner for his actions after the match was over.

Most recently, Bragg took on a long-time veteran in the form of the Oklahoma Luchadore, Paul Puertorico. Puertorico was obviously still feeling the effects of the neck injury he suffered in his match two weeks prior against Michael Kensington McIntryre III, esq. But he still put his all into the performance. This time, Bragg did not pull the tights or do anything else illegal. He simply caught Puertorico on the top rope and monkey flipped him over to score the win. A clean victory and he remained undefeated.

Bragg has been careful to make certain and stay neutral in the war between the Saints of Pro Wrestling and Bad Boy & C. M. Burnham. When the Saints made one of their initial post-match beatdowns on MSWA talent, Burnham sent Bragg and McIntyre out to try and stop them, but Bragg pulled up sort before entering the ring, then stepped back, refusing to assist. Bragg has made it clear that he is here for himself. He has no interest in being aligned with anyone. He just wants to do what is best for him.

And so far, that plan of action has been successful. But there will almost certainly come a time when his luck will run out. And then, perhaps Bragg will wish he believed in a higher power so he could have someone to appeal to for help.
