Honky Tonk Man vs. Jadyn Fielder
Posted: Mar 14th 2011 By: mikeiles
First, The Greatest. Now, the Greatest WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time.
A week after Muhhamad Ali visited Brewers camp, wrestling legend the Honky Tonk Man was back on Sunday to throw a ceremonial first pitch and visit his friend Mike Vassallo, the Brewers' media relations director. The man also known as Roy Wayne Farris has visited Maryvale Baseball Park before, and this time threw a perfect ceremonial first strike to the Brewers' Eric Farris (no relation).
First, Honky had to set things straight with Jadyn Fielder, the young son of the Brewers' first baseman. He'd been watching archived footage in recent days of Honky Tonk Man's bouts, and wasn't particularly impressed.
"Have you been talkin' behind my back?" Honky demanded.
Jadyn froze, so Matthew Hart blew his cover: "Yeah!"
Vassallo stepped in to avert a cage match. Honky Tonk Man left Jadyn with an action figure, complete with his famous guitar.
Honky Tonk Man is still in the ring, 35 years into his career. His next events are in Minnesota and northern Wisconsin.
