Chavo Guerrero, Sr. Interview Recap

Chavo Guerrero, Sr. Interview Recap

Posted: Feb 16th 2011 By: CMBurnham

Chavo is going to be part of a panel of judges for a Wild West Wrestling tournament where the winners will be determined by a panel of veteran judges including: Harley Race, Danny Hodge, Booker T, Jake Roberts, Bob Orton, Jr, Nick Bockwinkle and many many more.

When asked about evaluating talent, Donnie mentioned a quote from Kevin Nash previously on the show where Nash said it?s hard for him to gauge a worker without getting in there and locking up with him. Before the point was finished, Guerrero jumped in all heated saying of course Nash feels that way ? he can?t work. He continued on to say ?If you ever saw one of his matches you saw them all. He has no timing. All he has is he?s big and he?s pretty and he?s handsome. That?s it. And I?d tell him to his face?.

Chavo pointed out that one of the simple reasons why the Guerreros were such excellent workers was because of the discipline / task master approach his father took in training the boys. Guerrero also referenced the fact that in American wrestling, you work the left side, while in Mexico you work the right. Learning to work both sides made them more well rounded / believable and made the transition to other companies much easier.

Talking about his brother Eddie ? he said he had never admitted this publicly before, but he never really spent much time with Eddie. Eddie was just three years older than Chavo?s son Chavo Jr.

When Eddie was born, Chavo Sr was a married man and working all over the world. When Eddie got older he was in Japan / ECW / WCW and WWE ? making it difficult to spend much time together.

Chavo was incredibly emotional and spoke of animosity amongst the brothers and made it clear that Chavo Jr was closer to Eddie than anyone.

When asked about Eddie?s daughter who just had her first match for FCW, Chavo said that Vickie has really separated herself from the Guerreros. Chavo wishes he could have part in her training so she would be safe and best served. Chavo believes if Eddie was alive his daughter would not be in the business.
