Charlie Haas released by WWE

Charlie Haas released by WWE

Posted: Jul 6th 2005 By: oklastaff

World Wrestling Entertainment has released Edmond, OK native Charlie Haas. Haas had worked for the WWE for a little over 2 1/2 years, beginning with a stint in Heartland Wrestling Association, where he teamed with his brother Russ until Russ? death from heart failure in 2001. Charlie stayed in HWA as R. C. Haas until being called up to the main roster in December 2002. He debuted on Smackdown on Dec 22, 2002 in Tulsa, OK and was teamed with Shelton Benjamin as Team Angle. This duo would hold the SD World Tag Team title 2 times. But after last year?s lottery draft, Shelton went to RAW and Haas was left alone. He formed a makeshift team with Rico, who was managed by Jackie Gayda. This allowed Haas to win the SD World Tag Team Title a 3rd time. But after losing the title, Rico was released and Haas was left alone again. He never experienced as much success as a singles wrestler, despite a high profile storyline involving a love triangle between himself, Dawn Marie and Jackie, whom he later married.

At the time of his release, Haas had been teaming with Hardcore Holly and the duo had experienced some limited success. There had also been talks of moving Haas over to RAW and either reteaming him with Shelton or beginning a feud between the 2.

No word has been received on what Haas? plans are after his no-compete clause expires.
