Tyson Jaymes Puts Others Before Himself

Tyson Jaymes Puts Others Before Himself

Posted: Jan 15th 2010 By: CMBurnham

In the world of professional wrestling, it?s a common belief that people end up with a lot of acquaintances and very few friends. When someone is a rookie in the sport, acquaintances can be a big help.

Tyson Jaymes knows what it?s like to be out there on his own. While he has reforged the friendship he had with SWCW Champion 3rd Rail, he?s had his share of other partners and associates walk away from him. He vowed not to make that same mistake if he were on the other side. And since the beginning of the new year, Tyson has stepped up to defend those who have no one else to call on in this brutal sport.

On January 2nd, Tyson faced off against Bobby Star in a match to determine the #1 contender to the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title. While Tyson came alone, Star brought his tag team partner Chris Chaos with him and the numbers advantage would eventually pay off for Star. When the referee was knocked out, Tyson had the match won, but Chaos interfered and after Tyson disposed of him, he was met with a swift schoolboy and a huge handful of tights by Star to gain the win.

2 matches later, Chaos was set to face off against Sam Stackhouse. Again, Chaos and Star arrived together. And Tyson felt this was unfair, so he came to the gentle giant?s aid. While Stackhouse was probably larger than the other two men combined, Jaymes knew that there were only so many ways Stackhouse could be paying attention at one time and an extra set of eyes at ringside could be a big help. After arguing with the referee, Tyson was rewarded with a ?2-on-2!? chant as the fans were more than willing to see a tag team match. But Tyson refused, saying, ?Not 2-on-2. It?s 1-on-1?, then speared Star out of the ring. The official combatants then began their match and it was clear that Chaos had been counting on the outside assistance as he could do nothing to match the size and power of Sam Stackhouse on his own. A few occasions brought the referee?s attention to Tyson, allowing some double team moves behind John the Encourager?s back, but as with the other match, the turning point came down to a disabled referee. Sam annihilated John in the corner while Tyson and Bobby were battling to the back through the entrance curtain. Chaos took out Stackhouse, then stood and mocked Tyson in the ring, going through a lot of the same physical motions Tyson does. Tyson returned behind Chaos and simply said, ?You?re not me!?, the hit a Stunner and a Codebreaker, allowing Stackhouse to polish Chaos off with a rolling neckbreaker. A recovered John the Encourager counted 3 and the match was over. While not official tag team partners, Jaymes & Stackhouse had made a bond with each other and both knew they could call on each other in the future should the need arise.

Tyson?s desire to assist proved to be a positive asset on that occasion, but it almost cost him more than he expected this past Sunday. Impact, Inc. had opened the MSWA show and their leader, Johnny Z, was not in a good mood. He still felt humiliated and embarrassed from the beating he took at the hands of Kevin Morgan and MSWA Mid-South Champion Aaron Neil one month before. Of course, instead of accepting that he wasn?t man enough to measure up to their offense, he blamed Shawn Stevens, who had served as a member of Impact, Inc. security. During the course of their diatribe, MSWA Oklahoma Champion Jermaine Johnson had announced that Stevens would be facing Johnny Z in a match later that afternoon. Stevens, who had just made his in-ring debut the night before as part of the New Age Syndicate in a losing venture against Dawn of Extreme, was completely frightened. And given the bully tactics of the Impact, Inc. members, that should come as no surprise. Johnson paintbrushed Stevens on his way to the ring for the match while Z stood in the ring and called the audience cowards. The match went on for what felt like an eternity as Johnny relentlessly beat on and berated the former security member. And then, Tyson Jaymes, who had already competed earlier in the card against Bud Barnes, came to the ring unannounced. He told Johnny that he understood that this was supposed to be a lesson, but class time was over and told Johnny to pick on him, offering to take his place in the match.

Tyson certainly took the task to the self-proclaimed ?Saviour of wrestling in Oklahoma?, keeping Johnny on the defensive several times during the match. But each time, Johnny recovered, then took time to go and argue with the crowd, at one point launching a disgusting snot-bomb from his nose in the direction of one of the female fans. Things looked hopeful as Tyson rallied one more comeback and looked to be prepared to put the IZW owner away, but as he hit the ropes to get some speed, Shawn Stevens reached out and grabbed his ankle. Tyson turned his attention towards Stevens, argued with him about trying to interfere, then turned back and was hit with a devastating move, allowing Johnny Z to bask in the ring as the winner. At that point, a gang beating began as Johnny, Jermaine and all of Impact, Inc. security (including Shawn Stevens, who apparently had only been fired as a ruse) put the boots to Tyson, leaving him laying alone in the middle of the ring.

Despite this, Tyson still came to ringside to attempt to rescue Kevin Morgan from a similar beating at the end of the show. So the sacrifices have proven themselves to be worth it. Tyson remains ready to assist when it becomes necessary. Because he knows that his good deeds now may pay off down the road if he finds himself in need.
