Deal or No Deal!

Deal or No Deal!

Posted: Nov 14th 2009 By: CMBurnham

3rd Rail recently became the first wrestler to hold all active SWCW Titles. But none of the belts he's won in the past two months mean as much to him as the one that continues to elude him: the SWCW Title.

On 3 occasions, Rail has been at the top of SWCW. But after losing the title to current SWCW Champion Kevin Morgan, Rail has been continually frustrated in his attempts to regain that title. Although he respects Morgan (and the feeling is mutual), that doesn't compensate for the desire he has to feel that title belt around his waist.

Ironically, the opportunity to win the SWCW Title began when he captured the SWCW Hardcore Title from Maniac Mike. It was at that point that SWCW Commissioner Miss Sheila offered what she called the "Deal or No Deal" challenge. Rail could either keep the hardcore title or relenquish it back to Mike in the hopes of gaining a heavyweight title shot. Although Rail enjoyed the opportunity for carnage, he gave the title back to Mike and continued in his quest.

In each successive show, Rail would face one of SWCW's champions and the same deal would be offered, although sometimes it would have a slight twist. The next time Rail found himself across the ring from a champion, it was SWCW Cruiserweight & ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Sage. Sage employed every aerial tactic he knew, but while Sage is used to facing people who weigh around 200 lbs., his current opponent topped the scales around twice that. The inevitable happened and Rail became the heaviest Cruiserweight Champion in SWCW history. But acting commissioner Shawn McKeaigg stepped in again and pointed out that Rail violated the weight limit for the title. So, he could either lose 300 lbs. in two weeks or give back the title and continue towards the heavyweight title. Well known for his love of sweets, Rail had no trouble continuing to ingest the cupcakes and relenquished the Cruiserweight title back.

On October 24, Rail reunited with his former partner Tyson Jaymes and the South Side Soul Assassins once again were in contention for tag team gold. This time, it was against SWCW Tag Team Champions the Good Ol' Boys. And, as they did so long in MSWA, the South Side Soul Assassins dominated the match. Even though Rail & Jaymes had suffered a violent break up and engaged in a brief fued earlier this year, all that went to the side as the chance to be tag team champions loomed. This time, when Rail won a title, the decision to be champion wasn't just about him. But his wishes overrode any desire that Tyson Jaymes had and, after winning the gold, Rail once again decided to give them up in order to continue on the road to the top prize.

This past Sunday, Rail faced the final hurdle in his way: SWCW Luchadore Champion Se7en. Se7en was the only challenger who had comparable experience to Rail and it would prove to be Rail's toughest challenge. As hard hitting as Rail is, Se7en is also well known for a strong-style offence. And by taking Rail off his feet, Se7en was able to negate much of that offence. Focusing on submissions and not being drawn into Rail's game, Se7en locked in the Devil's triangle submission. This move is highly effective, but does put the applier on his back and that was where Se7en found himself. Although Rail did pass out from the hold, his weight held Se7en's shoulders to the mat and once again, Rail found himself in possession of a title belt.

Shawn McKaiegg entered the ring and offered Rail the choice he'd heard so many times recently. He could keep the Luchadore title or give it up and receive his shot at the SWCW Title. After staring at the belt, Rail called Se7en back into the ring. He said he had never been choked out in his career and Se7en earned his respect. He understood why Se7en had been champion for so long. But Rail wanted something bigger. He gave the belt back to Se7en, but did promise that, when he became SWCW Champion for the 4th time, he would meet Se7en once again and that time, there would be no dispute in the decision.

Having now run the championship gauntlet, 3rd Rail simply waits for Kevin Morgan to return to SWCW and put that title on the line. And, if Rail can win that match, you can be sure that he will NOT be giving that belt back, even if he has the option.
