Is The PCP Crumbling To Dust?

Is The PCP Crumbling To Dust?

Posted: Oct 23rd 2009 By: CMBurnham

It seems that Boss Campbell and the Popped Collar Posse have been struggling for respect ever since they formed their faction earlier this year.

In their brief time together, they've proven that they're stronger as a unit than they appear seperately. Rookie competitor Goldeneye became the longest reigning ComPro Oklahoma X Division champion in the history of the title. Michael York, who many fans consider to be rather low on the Oklahoma talent roster, joined with Brett Taylor to form Crazy Beautiful and defeat Team SuperBad for the ComPro Tag Team Titles. And, in one of the most shocking moments, Cold Blooded Chris returned to the ring after 3 months of absence and defeated the Canadian Red Devil for the ComPro Showtime Title in his first match back.

This put 3 titles in the hands of Boss Campbell over the course of the year and seriously upped his status in the federation. But the only place to go when you're that far up is down and PCP seemed to crash and burn pretty quickly. Team SuperBad regained the tag team titles. SWCW Cruiserweight Champion Sage entered ComPro and quickly defeated Goldeneye for the X Division Title, becoming a dual champion. So Boss became somewhat desperate and when C. B. C. gained the Showtime Title, he was determined not to let it go.

Due to some managerial manipulation, Campbell was able to set up a "match" where CBC "defended" the title against York and Taylor under Triple Threat rules. This match fullfilled the contractually obligated defence every 30-days, but the match itself was a complete sham. More importantly, by shutting the Devil out of a title match, it infuriated him and when the sham of a match was over, the Devil came out to confront ComPro owner Mike Two.

Mike Two was not terribly happy with the match result and ordered a 4-Corners Elimination match for Night of Champions, forcing CBC to defend against York, Taylor and CRD. It seemed like this would put Devil in a 3-on-1 situation, but for most of the match, CBC waited on the outside, knowing he couldn't be eliminated if he couldn't be pinned or forced to submit and also waiting while his opponents wore themselves down. A mistimed attempt by York to throw powder in CRD's eyes resulted in Taylor being blinded and accidentally hitting the Collar Popper on York, then pinning him. CRD then took care of York and it was now a 1-on-1 match. With no one left to run interference for him, CBC was forced into the ring and had to deal with the Devil and it didn't turn out well for him as he ended up on the receiving end of a Face Plant From Hell and the Devil regained the Showtime Title.

The aftermath of this saw Boss irate at CBC for losing the only title belt under his control. Crazy Beautiful joined in on an attack until the Devil came back to rescue to fallen former champion and drive Boss' forces away.

Revenge set heavily on Boss' mind this past week as CRD made his first title defence since regaining the belt. Once again, the Devil had to deal with York and Boss made no secret of how much he was counting on York to bring some gold back to him. He told York this was his chance to redeem the PCP. But again, a mistimed throw of powder proved to be the downfall for the group. This time, the powder went in the eyes of referee John the Encourager. This allowed Sensei Bolo to come out. Although Sensei had no issue with either of the combatants, he had been attacked earlier in the show by Goldeneye while filling in as Special Guest Ring Announcer. Goldeneye had come out before intermission and delivered the Golden Boot to Sensei, knocking him out. Now, armed with his kendo stick, Sensei whalloped both Goldeneye and Michael York, then scooted out of the ring while the Devil made the cover. But it was only good enough for a 2-count. The Devil then grabbed a towel for John to clear his eyes with and, while that was going on, grabbed the title belt and slammed it into the head of York, then locked the sharpshooter on for another successful title defence.

Boss Campbell remains frustrated and it appears that his future endeavours may be bleak. Cold Blooded Chris is no longer a member of the the PCP. Brett Taylor has also expressed some backstage disatisfaction with the PCP and ComPro in general. Goldeneye had drawn the wrath of the Canadian Luchadore, due to his actions against Luchie's manager, Sensei Bolo. And York has not been a dominant singles wrestler since his rookie year. Boss needs to look into getting some additional membership to rebuild the Posse or all the work he's done to rebuild his image will have been for naught.
