Divide And Conquer! Has Aaron Neil Lost His Biggest Ally Against Impact, Inc.?

Divide And Conquer! Has Aaron Neil Lost His Biggest Ally Against Impact, Inc.?

If there was one consolation that MSWA Mid-South & IZW Champon Aaron Neil could have during his war against Impact, Inc., it was that he wasn't having to go at it alone. In IZW, internal disputes were distracting Johnny Z while in MSWA, Neil had forged an alliance with SWCW Champion Kevin Morgan. But ever resourceful, Johnny Z has found ways to turn both negatives into potential positives if things go his way.

Two weeks ago, the relationship between Johnny Z and long-time tag team partner Bernie D deteriorated to the point that Johnny sent Bernie home, telling him not to show up again until he had learned to be a winner. In the main event of Saturday's show, Aaron Neil faced Johnny in a non-title match and towards the end of that bout, the referee was knocked unconscious. Bernie then ran to the ring with a steel chair and stood between the two combatants. He looked like he was about to take a swing at Johnny, but instead turned around and cracked Aaron across the skull with the implement, allowing Johnny to get the win, once the referee was revived. The fans all stared in amazement, as they were sure that all the abuse and hateful words between the two had driven a wedge that couldn't be fixed.

The next day, Johnny & IZW Tag Team Champion Jermaine Johnson came out to confront newly-returned MSWA commissioner Outlaw in the ring. Johnny demanded a title shot, but Outlaw said he didn't deserve one, which prompted Johnny to counter that Aaron was too scared to face him and kept having Kevin Morgan run interference and "do his dirty work for him". This prompted an idea in Outlaw's head and he decided to give Kevin Morgan a title shot that afternoon.

This announcement brought "The Awesome One" to the ring, but it also prompted a drastic change in Johnny's attitude. Instead of protesting the decision, Johnny AGREED that Morgan should have a shot. He said that if it was up to him, he would have gotten a shot a long time ago and that he should already be champion. Then Johnny pointed out the FACT that, in the two years that Kevin had been in MSWA, he had NEVER received a shot at the Mid-South title. This brought Aaron Neil to the ring and he was quick to point out that Johnny was just trying to stir up dissension and the only way they could fight back was the stick together. It's obvious to him that Johnny wants a title shot at anyone BUT Aaron, because he doesn't think he can beat Aaron for the belt.

Again, Outlaw reiterated that he was granting Kevin Morgan a title shot. Aaron said he needed Kevin's help in fighting Impact, Inc., then turned to address the problematic faction, but Kevin snatched the microphone out of his hand. He said he would take the shot, then exited the ring, leaving Aaron looking none too happy.

Impact, Inc. went on to dominate two singles matches against Jason Kirby and the debuting Rick Russo, but it was the main event that was on everyone's mind and when both men came to the ring, champion-vs-champion began. Morgan and Neil are both large men and employed plenty of power moves. But it wasn't long before Impact, Inc. and their entourage made their way to the ring. Aaron Neil soon became the target of several examples of interference, all cleverly hidden from the referee. Then, Johnson grabbed the title belt and slammed Aaron in the back with it. Morgan, who saw none of this occur, crawled over to the prone Neil and covered him. The referee counted 1...2...and then Morgan lifted himself off, realising what must have happened. As Kevin got up to argue with Johnny and his cronies, Aaron schoolboyed him and got the win.

After the bell rang, Aaron extended his hand to Kevin, who simply slapped it and walked away. Before he could make it to the back, though, Impact, Inc. jumped Aaron from behind. A brief 2-on-1 beatdown occurred until Kevin came back to the ring and Impact, Inc. scattered like cockroaches. The looks on their faces seemed to indicate that Morgan & Neil were not as close after the title match as they'd been before. And that's exactly what Johnny Z & company want. Is Aaron truly a man alone in this war? Or might there be allies waiting to help him that he hasn't realised exist yet?
