Magnum T. A. interview Recap

Magnum T. A. interview Recap

Posted: Jul 16th 2009 By: mikeiles

Magnum T. A. a former United States Champion joined In Your Head this week, Jack, One Inch Biceps and Barbie Richards conducted the interview the July 15, 2009 edition of In Your Head to promote the NWA Charlotte Legends Fanfest.

For more information on the NWA Legends Fanfest & Hall of Heroes August 6th-9th in Charlotte, NC please visit: http://www.NWAlegends.com

Jack asked Magnum how it made him feel when he went to a Fanfest like the NWA Legends Fanfest, Magnum said its good to see his old wrestling friends along with the fans, and that it?s a real reunion, if they didn?t have events like this they wouldn?t have any means of everybody getting together. he says the wrestling fans are amazing, they remember 20+ years ago, they can recount events that he?s long forgotten or even happened.

Jack asks if Magnum has ever signed something that bought back the memories. He says its not really in terms of memorabilia but the people that have some pictures from Live events that they attended round the country, just a shot they captured themselves rather than it being in a magazine, he says its like looking back on a day where they were all at their best, he says its quite a trip down memory lane.

Jack asks a question from a fan who asks if the WWF ever approached him during his NWA run. Magnum TA says that they never approached him or if he had the opportunity it would ever happen. He says he was very dedicated to the group that he was in. He says you can?t never say ever even though the conversation never occurred.

A Caller asks what the experience of being an announcer was like, Magnum says it was just some way to stay in the business which he dedicated most his life to, Magnum says it was difficult for him because he was 28-29 years old and was in his prime and just sitting on the sidelines calling the action with Jim Ross. He says he felt his life was near as rewarding as it was in the ring, but it was good to still be around the boys and the business, but he says it was a ?bitter pill? to be around it and not be your best.

Barbie asks if Magnum TA could explain the importance of the United States Championship to fans who have come along in the past 10 years. Magnum says in the era he came from the NWA World Heavyweight title even though its Entertainment your peers who recognized you in the National Wrestling Alliance saw you as a huge deal, and it should?ve been everyone?s aspiration to be good enough to hold the NWA World Heavyweight title, and he says for as long as he can remember the United States title was the number 1 contender for the World?s Belt. He says there were many battles for the United States title because the World Title wasn?t always in your territory, usually who ever was the United States champion when he came into the territory got a World Title shot, he says that?s why the US Title was so important, because it was considered the path you had to take to become World?s Champion, he thinks its kind of neat that Vince resurrected it and recognized the history, because he didn?t have to do so.

Magnum TA also talked about his feud with Tully Blanchard, the 4 Horseman, Cowboy Bill Watts, Dusty Rhodes and many many more.
